I used the male and female 5.5 mm DC connectors all the time for a myriad of projects most notably of course, are the LEDs that I happen to build.

If you work with LED strips, these are a must. Easy to use and +- is clearly marked.

I am not sure why, but when I use these connectors on my L.E.D. strips, the lights blink. I disconnect these connectors and wire it straight to the same power supply and they light up solid as they should. I put the connectors back on and... blink. So these are pretty much useless to me and a waste of my money. The power supplies being used are 12V and 1Amp.

Purchased these to wire bottle lights around the kitchen with a wall wart instead of a number of battery packs. Due to the length of the run as well as for durability, I ended up using 18/2 lamp cord. The terminals accepted two pieces of 18 gauge cord for the chain & 1 piece of 24-26 (?) gauge from the lights. I will grant it took a bit of work to fit the larger-than-normal-for-the-project wire, but it worked out well. After loosening the screw, I used a scratch awl or a piece of 14 gauge solid to push the clamp fully open, making inserting the 3 wires easier.

Very useful for 12v equipment.

The set screws on the connector do not hold the wire very well, no matter how hard you tighten them.

Im really proud of these connectors for not being ashamed of their sex. Bravo! Males and Females
