> 3 dayI wish I could give 3.5 stars, because that would be more accurate. Its good wiring for a good price, but there a a couple gotchas to be aware of. Im writing a summary based on use with off-road lighting, since thats one of oz-usas main product areas (note that I *am* a fan of a lot of their lights in terms of bang-for-the-buck.) The tl;dr is: - If youre using this for offroad lighting, and using Weatherpack connectors, go right ahead, it will work fine. (Although, I hate wiring Weatherpack, for reasons unrelated to this wire.) - If youre using this for offroad lighting, and using Deutsch connectors, Id look for something else. Sadly, I dont have a recommendations; Im going to try out a few different brands first. - If youre using this for something unrelated, and using something like standard ring or spade crimp connectors, I imaging it would work fine. Pros: - Good price. - Good environmental shielding/exterior jacket. Nice and thick. - Heavy duty interior insulation on each of the interior wires (although, see below for an associated con.) - Similarly, this is max-width 14 AWG, maybe a little bit more. (See below for an associated con.) Cons: - The biggest con is the actual wire stranding: its 14 AWG aggregate, maybe a little bit more, but its comprised of *tiny* interior strands. The drawbacks to this are a few: (a) if youre using closed Deutsch connectors, the 14 AWG probably wont fit -- youll have to trim a few strands, since getting so many tiny wires bunched in a perfect circle for insertion probably wont happen. (Technically, this is against Deutsch/TE specs.) If youre using Weatherpack or crimp terminals, it may not be as big of a problem. (b) Deutsch connectors seal by inserting the terminal pin and wire through a rubber seal and into a seated position; this involves some resistance. Since the wires are stranded from so many smaller wires, theres barely enough stiffness to seat the pin; the wire buckles and its a challenge to insert. 14 AWG stranded wire that is comprised of thicker-gauge internal strands is much easier to insert into a Deutsch connector since the stiffness of the wire works for you. Again, if youre using Weatherpack, those seal differently, and are less of a problem. But they are also less common connector for offroad lighting. - As mentioned above, the extra-thick internal wire insulation is also a pro and con: because its thicker, pushing it through a Deutsch weather seal requires even more work, and combined with the thin internal strands, wiring these style connectors is a royal pain.
