I have been ordering this same product for several years. This recent batch is heavier than before. The 1/4 chop sinks to the bottom of my mixture instead of staying suspended while the resin is curing. I am left with the chop settling to the bottom and not well mixed into the resin. I have never had this problem before. Also, I use a specific amount of resin, hardener and chop by WEIGHT, not volume. I have noticed that there is MUCH less chop for the same weight I have always used. There is something definitely different about this batch of chop. It is not doing the job I need it to.

Look good. Have yet to add them to some resin but they have a good weight to them.

Finally learning to add fibers after catylist and everything else is mixed well so as not to disturb the fibers too much, but these chopped fibers stay together very well and mix even better. Excellent product. Used in restoring an old fiberglass sailboat.

However for what I needed the stiffness of the chop was not what I expected . I used it to thicken epoxy and use for a glue between wood strips. I believe it will do the job. My other option was cotton phlox and fumed silica. The chopped strands made for poor brush on . I opted to make a dip and wet out joint creating a trough of chopped and pressing the whetted strip into the mat and applying to the other whetted strip clamping together. Its all about purpose.

Good way to add structural strength to resin, especially when using it as a filler. Use as needed to obtain the consistency desired to work with. When combined with fumed silica (cabosil) you can make a filler as thick as peanut butter that is also structurally solid.

I had been making my own chopped strand filler for a couple years, but I got a little sick of all the work involved. I saw a video on using chopped fiber for fiberglassing, and I immediately went to Amazon to check it out. The Fasco chopped fiber caught my eye, and I decided to give it a shot. The prices all around Amazon were close to the same, but most of the sellers wanted $15 to $20 bucks shipping! Then I found the Fasco Enterprises site and the chopped fiber was seventeen bucks with free shipping (I am an Amazon Prime member.) It arrived within two days. I immediately went into the shop to try it out. It works SO much better than home-made, and is great for adding strength to joints or molding around complex-shaped objects. I highly recommend Fasco Enterprises ! Their selection, prices and shipping are top notch, and, although Ive only tried the one product from them, I will gladly be working with them again.

Good filler but a little pricey for 20 buck.

1/4" chop glass fibers. Blend with polyester or epoxy resins. Often mixed with other fillers to create custom blends. Very high density and compression strength. A little goes a long way to increase strength of blended mixtures.
