I’m honestly not sure how to rate this item. At first I loved it. Quiet, easy to install, great color. 6 days in, however, and my chinchillas’ feet were green. I reached out to the company but haven’t heard back. I’m returning it to be safe. I’m not comfortable risking my girls’ health.

My two chinchillas are very active little boys. I’ve tried standing saucer treadmills, and two different running wheels the past two years since I decided to get them their first wheel. Each time, within 3-6 months I either need to replace the bearings, grease the center, or replace it entirely. Why? Because it gets incredibly loud and literally wakes up my parents and I unfortunately. Now those I’ve spend anywhere from $50 to $100 on. So I was definitely a little hesitant to pay the current price of $135 for this. I needed a silent wheel. NEED. And that’s what I got. Thank god. I’m so happy. What totally sets it a part is the assembly part of it I think. Super rigid frame, the nuts and screws are good quality, and after putting in the effort to get everything tight, you’re left with a high quality item that I hope will last for a long time. I’ve finally found the best wheel. This review could change if it starts having the same issues as past wheels, but so far so good.

My chinchillas love this wheel. Now they have a newer cage and new wheels. And they love it! This wheel is very large, so I would suggest that you measure your cage wheel area first. I had to move around a couple of shelves, but it fits perfectly now. I would also suggest that you make sure that there are no easy ways for them to jump on the top of the wheel while going across the cage. I was able to easily install a wood plank that went from one side of the cage to the next without room for them to bother the top of the wheel. This wheel is much more rewarding than it is trouble. It installs easily. There are no complex braces to secure. My chinchillas were instantly curious about it and both of them use it, but one of them likes it better than the other. This wheel is everything that I expected and more. Its safe, quiet and the perfect size. My babies are putting many miles on theirs. The only small problem than I can say is that I can hear this wheel when they go fast. I am used to that with any wheels so it doesnt bother me. would suggest this for any chinchilla owner.

My female rats love their new giant purple wheel! I have 8 females and until I installed this running wheel only one of my girls even used the wooden one that this is replacing. I am so glad to be getting rid of the wooden one because you just cannot clean it. This metal wheel is so easy to spray and wipe clean on a regular basis so I know my girls will not be running on a dirty wheel. Installation was very easy and the instructions explained every step in very clear detail. They also included everything you need to install the wheel including 2 closed end wrenches that you need to secure the wheel mount to the bars of your cage and to secure the wheel to the wheel mount. The mounting system is a nice wide X contraption with 4 points of contact with the bars. This allows the wall to easily carry the weight of the wheel and rat running in it without putting all of the pressure in one spot. With it spaced out in this way it prevents the bars from flexing and eventually bending like I have seen other wheels do when they are point loaded in one area. I mounted it to the side of my critter nation cage and it fit perfectly, leaving lots of space all around. And I was able to do it all by myself. If I were to mount it on the back wall of the cage I would have needed another person to help with mounting as you need to be both inside and outside of the cage at the same time to install it. Once it was installed my one girl who wears out wheels jumped right in and started running in it. She fit nicely in the wheel and had no backwards flexing of her spine. She was able to easily spin the wheel and it was well balanced as it spun. I wish I had my phone at that moment to get a quick video but it was on the charger, but after she jumped off I pretended to run in it with my fingers and my other girls got really interested in the new wheel. One of them jumped up and started to run as well. Then a second one jumped in with her and eventually I had 3 girls running side by side in the deep wheel. They are younger so they aren’t as wide as my adult who already loves running in a wheel, so they fit okay, although one eventually jumped out and the two kept going. It was their first time using a wheel and i would have loved to capture it on video and share it in this review…perhaps I can get a video of them tomorrow and add it to the review then. I was so surprised that they all wanted a try. I think because this wheel didn’t smell like I know the wooden one must have to their sensitive noses. I am so happy that they have a new toy that they will all enjoy. 5 stars from the ratty girls!

My chinchillas love this wheel. I have gone through my fare share of wheels. This wheel does not disappoint. Comes with everything you need to assemble. The material is sturdy and durable. The mounting on the back is what I really liked. This was easy to attach and it’s secure. The wheel is larger than I thought so I did have to rearrange the cage to get it to fit properly. It’s quite and spins smoothly I do not hear them running on it in the middle of the night. The wheels that I buy at Petco are around $30 and they only last about a month. My chinchillas usually destroy them. I definitely feel like this wheel is a great choice. The quality is well worth it and my chinchillas are happy.

Well worth the cost. Our chinchilla loves it. Very heavy duty, easy to clean, fairly low noise, and hopefully will stand the test of time!

I got it in black to match the colors of my chinchillas cage ! And it’s super cute ! It’s a lot bigger than what I imagined but that’s fine the bigger the better ! It’s like aluminum material? So that makes me kinda nervous around the edges but I’m probably just not picking , but other than that i genuinely like the quality of this wheel , And it was so easy to install. It’s way better than our old wheel that was extremely loud you can hear them running on it but it’s practically silent :)) hope this helps ! <3

My chinchillas love this thing. None of them have trouble using it, and I hardly notice when they do because its so quiet! No sharp edges, no protruding bolts to snag fur on or cause injury. Currently have it in a playpen for them, but will be moving it into an empty cage that has better support for the attachment.

Very impressed with the construction of the large wheel. I got the green which fit into my rat cage decor perfectly. I look forward to them getting used to a new wheel. I’ll come back and review once my rats have given their seal of approval.
