This punch is much heavier duty than the standard office-supply store variety. It provides good leverage via some sort of gearing or levers and allows you to punch through thick materials (or a stack of thin sheets) cleanly. The punch enters the die in a straight line, as opposed to at an angle with the standard pliers style punch. I think thats why it seems to punch without wrinkling thin materials (like a sheet of copy paper). In any case, it punches thin materials without distortion. The one material I tried that it didnt work too well on was thin flexible plastic film/bags. It works fine on stiffer plastic films, but very pliable ones get pulled down and not cut, perhaps because the clearance between the punch and the die approaches the thickness of the plastic. But I dont really care about that material for my hole-punching purposes and Im not sure a die-type punch is right for that job anyway, so no points off from me for not working on that material. This one gets a thumbs-up from me. My uses for it are unpredictable and in a wide variety of materials, so I need a good all-rounder and Im satisfied this style best fits those purposes.

I use this punch on index cards that are laminated with a thicker lamination. It effortlessly punches through each card!

Not heavy duty. Won’t punch a hole in a credit card without bending the handles.

I really like this hole punch for various projects. I dont like the throat of a standard hole punch so this is just the ticket for versatility in placing holes.

The punch is clearly well built and functions as intended. What more could you ask for out of this type of item?

The actual pin that makes the holes tends to get stuck before it makes the hole.

The hole puncher worked fine but since you cannot see exactly where the hole is going to be it did not work for our situation.
