These bulbs are brighter than the bulb being replaced. They also seem to have a narrower angle of illumination causing the light to be more focused. Not quite as appealing as the older bulbs. There is one other more important issue with these bulbs. They smell. They have an electronic smell to them as though they are burning some coating off of their circuitry. Ive had one of them in now for over a week and it has been on approximately 8 hours per day and the smell has lessened or I have just gotten used to it. Either way it was very off-putting when I first tried the bulbs out, but I do think it is lessening over time. I would have sent them back but its hard to know what the replacements would have been like, it seems like everything I purchase anymore on Amazon has an issue that I dont know about till I receive and try out the product. Amazon has always been good about taking returns but I hate to put this on them. Unfortunately its a sign of the times.

I had to return them because I found them too bright for an at home cabinet. If you want bright, these are the bulbs for you.

Outside lights

I like the bright cool white hue. I also like the minimal heat produced.

We just picked up a China hutch (new to us) and the wife wanted the light on all the time. It still had the original halogen buld in it, and I did not want to use 10X the power not to mention the heat is not something I want either. Well a 4 watt in place of a 40 watt bulb and it is brighter than the halogen bulb. Hopefully these dimmable bulbs last as long as I hope they will, will update if they dont.

Replacement bulbs for a desk with small built-in overhead lighting.

We are using this for a dark basement room that doesn’t have enough lighting. These mad a huge difference and I will be buying more for other places I want bright. Very small but powerful.

We got these to light up the pictures (and crystal items weve collected from all over the world over the years) in a china hutch converted for pictures of the grands and great grands. They do a great job and dont flicker on the dimmer settings. They also keep the 4000 to 5000K white light, and that makes everything standout even better than the old halogen bulbs!

This was much less harsh than the bright white version. Installed the lightbar over our bed, and reading is great.
