A Christmas Dress For Ellen

> 24 hourWe collect Christmas books as one of our family traditions. While we have many with a similar theme of giving rather than receiving, A Chrsitmas Dress for Ellen is clearly one of our favorites. It is beautifully written without being too long and has outstanding illustrations. I think the aspect that puts it above the others is that its based on a true story. While other books tell a fictional story about the idea of going out of ones way for others, this one is a true story about real people who truly sacrificed in big ways for others. For my kids to know these event really happened makes the idea of sacrifice more concrete. In a world where children expect to have so much these days, this book puts things into perspective.

> 24 hourI first read this beautiful, and true, little story in a Family Circle magazine of 20 or more years ago. I clipped it out and read it every year. I’m so happy to find it now in kindle print. It’s a Christmas story worth sharing with family!

> 24 hourA Christmas Dress for Ellen is a heartwarming story of the faith of a mother living in abject poverty. It is also a story of the goodness of many, many people. Its a story of a Christmas Miracle. Best of all, its a true story of real people with real faith! Although written as a childrens book, its a great story for children of all ages... even those of us who are a little beyond childhood. I bought two copies; one for my family and one for a friend.

> 24 hourBeautiful true story showing Gods provision to a family so far away from all their loved ones. We also had the privilege of reading this story from the postmans family view this Christmas in another book. He and his family were Christians and sacrificed their Christmas Eve and Christmas morning traditions while he and his son were gone in the blizzard making this delivery. What joy they all had knowing that they were instruments of blessings to another family.

> 24 hourThe dress for Ellen is not the only Christmas gift in the story. The wonderful love of family and friends and especially of the mailman brings tears to my eyes. Weather did not keep all of them from answering the needs and prayers of the family in Canada. Ellen was not the only one thrilled with blessings at Christmas! Good lessons for all children and families in this book about giving and blessing others, not just during Christmas. The illustrations are superb. This story is to be cherished and the book brought out every Christmas.
