I needed a replacement for an old desktop that had reached the end of its life.

We got this mini PC for our family room where it gets good use. It is very light weight and comes with a bracket that allows you to attach it to the back of a monitor if you choose, making it excellent for tight or limited spaces. It runs very fast and Im able to run All the Office Business apps without any lags or problems. If you have a portable monitor this would be great for traveling as its very compact and light weight.

This style of mini PC was popularized by the Intel NUC - I own two NUCs plus a GEEKDOM NUC-clone and love them. This Ace Magician mini-PC isnt in the same league, build-wise, as the NUCs or even the clone, but the configuration is the minimum I would recommend to anyone (16GB RAM, 512GB SSD). Im an Intel guy, so am not intimately familiar with the AMD lineup, but the Ryzen 5 5600U is a decent midrange processor with good integrated graphics.

This is an inexpensive upgrade for older desk tops, where you already have one or more monitors. Its very fast for routine tasks and works fine on simple games and video.

So I unboxed this, connected my wireless keyboard and mouse and a monitor, then plugged it in. The PC recognized my monitor and the keyboard/mouse combo and I was off. IF YOU DONT WANT TO USE A MICROSOFT ACCOUNT TO LOG INTO THIS PC, DO NOT CONNECT TO YOUR HOME NETWORK UNTIL AFTER THE SETUP IS COMPLETE.

The performance of this machine is better than I expected it to be. It runs Windows 11 quite well. I am using this machine to run my Plex server and it does fairly well transcoding the videos and serving them up.

I have a small business that specializes in destruct testing. We use Mac computers for our engineering group and Windows for the regular business side. We wanted to add a computer on a kiosk in the waiting room where customers could come in and look at films of some of our testing over the years. So, it was important to have Wireless capability for the network and for the keyboard/mouse and that the form factor be small.

I just bought this computer a few days ago, and it is not letting me past the point where it prompts to put a custom PIN on the computer when first setting up the PC with my wifi, Microsoft account, etc. I’m stuck at an infinite loading screen, and there’s no option to skip the PIN setup. I only put 3 stars rather than 1 star because the computer seemed fine otherwise (despite hardly using it) and perhaps I can get this issue resolved.

Having two NICs, I purchased this to be a replacement PFSense firewall and proxy server. As of the begining of 2023, the hardware in this is too new for the current PFSense so, had to switch to the Dev version. This computer may seem over kill for a firewall but, with PFSense it is also a proxy server and so much more. So, if you want a PFSense firewall with this computer until PFSense 2.7 is officially released, use the Dev version.

I really like this small form factor PC. The performance is excellent and trumps my larger boxed machines. I use it mainly for Adobe graphics-related projects and have had no issues. It is ultra quiet and very adequate for most needs. A+
