The fan is a little wonky... the fan screws into the board instead of clipping into the fan supports... also seems a bit cheezy... I don’t think it will keep up if I oc the chip. I also bought a r7 3800 the fan in there is much much better. And performance is much faster. Overall this is a great value chip but if your gaming I would pony up the cash and get the 3800

I was a late to the Ryzen game. AMD has always offered solid performance and lower price points. Coincidentally after getting there buts kicked by intel for the last 10 years they launched RYZEN, now Intel is scrambling with tired core I architectures. Pretty much AMD beats intel at low, mid and high end computing. The Threadeipper is the top end king, the 5,7, 9 series are gray for low to hi. Obviously the is the mid range. I replaced a aging phenomen II x6. I wanted an incremental jump which is what I got and then some. Wanting to see how this handles virtualization but certain I won’t be disappointed. This is a great CPU at the $250 range. 8 cores. I haven’t tested on heavy hitters like Skyrim, but plays max setting Starcraft like a boss.

I bought this item to build my first computer with. I paired it with a 1070, and 3200mhz ram. I’ve been using it for a couple months now and it has functioned flawlessly. I have dual monitors and usually have a game on one monitor(at max settings) and a chrome browser with 5+ tabs open one of with is more than likely a video. This machine just eats it up.

I limit but I wish I would have waited for the new processors. I still like.
