AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor

Did not want this CPU. Wanted a 5900X / 5950X. But, future reader, if you look back on the years 2020-2021, youll see that this was nearly impossible. Even these 5800s were being scalped at ugly markups for 6+ months. However, once they were regularly in stock, I grabbed one at MSRP after choosing it over the 5600X. Im not disappointed at all. Mostly wanted it for gaming @ 1440p / 4K, and it does that without issue. Very nice upgrade from my 2700X, which wasnt a bad CPU at all. All the extra cores and threads are great for my home recording studio work. Very happy with it. Not sure if the MSRP is the right price, but I think thats because Ive spent 25+ years building computers and AMD chips were always much less expensive than their Intel counterparts. However, since these outperform pretty much every Intel consumer CPU, Ill go ahead and grudgingly say AMD can price them a little higher than what weve come to expect.

Although Im just using it for enthusiast computing and almost no gaming.....Im finding it to be a wonderful upgrade from the 3800x I had in the system previously. Very easy plug n play type of upgrade.

This is a great CPU and works great with my RX6750XT GPU. Amazon has the best prices by far. Highly recommend.

Very easy to install, works as a champ!

Works great for the gaming, video editing, and 3d rendering tasks I perform often. Easy upgrade from previous generations, just be 100% sure youre on the proper BIOS version before installing. Will run hotter than previous gen AMD processors, but it should be manageable with a good cooler
