The good: the thing works in all operating systems Ive tried. The bad: - I needed an external USB isolator to reduce static noise. - In both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 Pro, the Andrea drivers would not install. - Related to the above, Andreas AudioCommander software would not work, bc it didnt recognize the device as being from Andrea. So either this thing is not so great in general, I got a bad one, or the seller is not actually shipping Andrea gear. Couldnt tell you which. Andrea support was useless. They did eventually return the extra $10 Id paid them for their software. Im done with these.

I found the latency to be much higher than other options for speech recognition use. The audio was very quiet however.

I had the device plugged into my mac book for less than 60 seconds and an error came up saying that a USB device was drawing too much power and my laptop had shut it off. I unplugged the device and it was too hot to even touch. After letting it cool I tried it again and it was dead, the USB port still works fine but the device is done. It was scary to me how hot it got and how quickly it got there. Not sure why this happened but it is very unsettling. I bought this one for the reviews but I guess I got the one.

Using this usb adapter with an Ars-Technica Pro 8 HEW mic for dictation and the setup is working well so far. Thanks.

I needed this for my classes, and it does a pretty good job. I have had a few instances where I had to wiggle my microphone around to get it to recognize the mic from the computer, but I havent had that problem lately.

Works well on windows. On OSX it has problems where it randomly inserts noise before sounds, or plays sounds slower than normal, or doesnt play them at all.
