Buy these in bulk as much as you can. They add up, and the filters are pretty well assembled so will last quite a while.

These are made well and fill out the filter box well. I will add that my aqua clear 70 filter is no doubt after having many over the years different makes and style the best I ever had two years now on this and easy clean and clears my tank after gravel cleaning and sponge cleaning the sides in less than an hour crystal clear 50 gallon tank with dirty gold fish that are 10 inchers now
