> 24 hourI love hot press paper, its very forgiving. You can scrub, shape and 400 grit sand almost at will. The more you work the fibers and layer transluscent color a soft almost pastels patina emerges. Arches is my go to paper.

> 24 hourIve purchased Arches watercolor blocks in various sizes for years. When I was teaching, they were part of the curriculum, even though I would still demonstrate stretching paper so that the students would have an understanding of both methods. Bound on all four sides with a small slit to release the paper when the painting is finished, the surface will bubble up slightly when wet, but return to its flat stage when dry. Good for all stages of watercolor painting- wet in wet, wet on dry or glazing. Great product, and highly recommended.

> 24 hourYep, it really doesnt buckle, even with a lot of water on it. Arches paper is not necessarily my favorite since it tends to fuzz-up, but this worked well for me.

> 24 hourAs a full-time artist, I rarely make reviews on products but this one deserves ALL the accolades. I have always used ‘cold press’ paper for gouache before, ‘hot press’ makes all the deference. Arches is top-shelf, high quality artist paper and the smoothness really helps with the application of gouache/watercolor and fluidity of the paint. Do not be concerned by the black sealant and cover page on the pad- the paper IS white. Use an exacto knife/plastic card/or palette knife to separate the sheets. This is perfect for plein air and travel. Larger pads can be taped off to smaller studies and I don’t have to worry about having a separate surface from my canvas panels. Works perfectly with a 9”x12” plein air Pochade box!
