> 3 dayAs part of running my own Linux servers for things like email, websites, etc... I like to track log data. Over time I noticed that the webserver lm-sensors was listing the core temperatures creeping up. I thought that it might have just been the age of the system. One day when looking at building a new server I saw this thermal paste pop up as a suggested item, so said what the heck Ill give it a try and see if it might help with cooling of that older system. Boy oh boy did it ever! I removed the old fan/heatsink off the CPU, cleaned off all the old paste, and used the provided spreader to apply a new layer before reinstalling the fan/heatsink. The difference in running/load temperatures is pretty amazing. Before the system on the 8 cores was right around 60-65 C; after cleaning and new thermal paste the temps are consistently 40-43 C. The server seems happier (less fan noise) and it will also reduce my energy usage saving money. I wish I would have had a wattage energy meter attached to record the before and after to get some real dollar savings numbers to share.

> 3 dayI used this on the CPU when I built my sons PC and 5 years later its still running cool and quiet. So when my graphics card started running hot I thought it would be worth applying some fresh thermal paste. I followed a guide on youtube to disassemble the card and found that the original thermal paste was a complete mess, only covering a third of the chip.
