I bought this to upgrade several servers CPUs. Also a design fault had caused a heatsink clamp to pop off exposing a BUS chip so I resoldered its mount back down, applied this and the heatsink back into place.

Do you really need to read this? AS-5 is, and has been, the best hands down silver base thermal paste I have ever worked with. Sure there are other brands out there. I have been, and always will be, faithful to AS-5.

In all seriousness this stuff is great. Anytime i buy a motherboard or graphics card i take off the heatsinks as soon as i unbox clean off the crapola from the factory which always seems to be worthless and glopped on and squeezed off of the chipset or gpu and onto the substrate. not cool. for the price of some of this hardware you would think they would take a bit of time to ensure a better application of TIM in the factory. On the other hand, the people making this stuff are jumping to their deaths because its such a terrible existence, so im guessing thermal paste is a ways down on the priority list. anywho, before i turn it on i put acrtic silver on it. Follow the directions to the letter and you will be pleased. Use your own method and you will probably only get oem performance so READ THE DIRECTIONS!!!

I will say this helped to cool down the laptop. it was overheating and now its just warm to a little warm the CPU doesnt get as cool as id like but i think the heatsink is part of the problem now

This is simply a must for system builders who are devoted to the best results! I might also add that Ive been building high-performance PCs for many years and have found that this really does produce the best heat transfer temps for CPUs, APUs & GPUs... Best way to apply is a small amount on either heatsink or processor (whichever is smallest), then in a circular fashion, using a very clean finger, spread compound evenly over entire surface, taking care to NOT use too much, just enough to spread under pressure so entire contact surface is covered... I know a lot of guys think it best to put a dot and trust the pressure of heatsink will spread it. While this is true some of the time, it is NOT always true and you want to be sure, especially if you are building your own rig... obviously, clean up finger well afterward before consuming your favorite pizza (or whatever...)

Thermals are important. When I first built my PC Two years ago i used the thermal paste provided with the cooler. Just refurbished my setup with a newer cooler and decided to go with arctic silver and I am amazed at how well it disperses the heat. Running AMD products things get hot. Went from 60C to 35C at idle. Hardly break over 65C while under load now.

I purchased this to replace the IC Diamond that was applied by my laptop reseller. I did some research before buying this particular brand & it seemed to be on par with others priced higher than this one so I decided to give this a try.
