> 3 dayClean install of Windows 10 w/ an EVGA 2080TI had random display freezing issues. The exact same system ran w/o issues on 3 BenQ monitors. Upgrading to Windows 11 did not address the issue. These ASUS displays (3 of them) would appear frozen but the Windows Event log would show that the computer was running just fine. I tried swapping out the graphic card, DP cables (bought thicker gauges, shorter lengths, w/ propper pinning), lowered refresh rates, and did the whole dance of making sure the latest chipset/graphics card/etc. drivers were installed. After a few weeks of trying different things, disabling G-Sync cured the issue. Not sure if it is because there is no driver for the display, I have too many connected (3), or what. It is disappointing, but at a 165hz refresh rate, I dont know if disabling G-Sync will matter. Also, these monitors seem to take a slightly longer time to wake from sleep compared to my other 3-monitor setup using BenQ monitors. Which could also be a difference. The control scheme on the back of the monitor is not ideal for multiple monitor setups. Controls that run along the bottom edge or along the front bezel are preferred. The controls on this monitor are on the right back side which makes the middle and left monitor in a 3-head setup, hard to get to. After initial setup, it wont matter much unless you are the kind of person who actually swaps monitor modes based on what you are doing. Other than that, the monitors seem great. High refresh rates (165hz), color scheme, etc.

> 3 dayLets address a few things. This monitor delivers on speed, hands down. If you play online multiplayer games like Battlefield 4, you will have an advantage over those who have a regular 60hz monitor. Some critics claim that the human eye can not see frames produced at that high of a rate so 60hz is fine. They dont know what they are talking about. FrankieOnPC on youtube explains this very well, and a higher refresh rate makes all the difference. Next, out of the box color issues. This is a huge deal for a lot of people. When you fire this monitor up the factory color settings are terrible. It looks like youre looking at a picture under water. However, minor adjustments are the key to making this monitor look dynamite. If you Google the model number people have included their settings and an ICC color profile that you can download to make the colors even more vibrant. But, let me tell you what my settings are for reference: Brightness: 60 Contrast: 80 Saturation: 50 Then I set ASUSs Splendid mode to Theater. This gives the deepest blues, reds, and blacks. It provides strong division on the grey scales, and makes the yellows and lighter greens (which are very bland out of the box) pop. After that I did install an ICC profile found on Reddit and various other sites. This was the icing on the cake. Performance wise, its very hard to notice the difference between 1ms and 5ms input lag. But the 144hz refresh rate is very noticeable. Everything is much smoother. Screen tearing is gone. And if you want to run Vsync, you can. But chances are you will have gotten rid of tearing without having to enable Vsync. I wish I bought this monitor first for my gaming rig. I had no idea how much of a difference a higher refresh rate made. Its night and day. I will never go back to 60hz.

> 3 daySimply put, this is the best gaming monintor Ive ever used. I wanted a high refresh rate (120-144hz) and low response time monitor to take advantage of my computer rig featuring an EVGA GTX 670 and i5 3570K processor and the high frame rates it is capable of producing. Mission accomplished! Pros: -Smoothness: Ran through a bunch of my games (BF3, Dirt 3, Mafia II, Medal of Honor, Far Cry 3) and the 144hz smoothness is undescribeably more smooth than my HP 60hz monitor was every capable of producing. No more motion blur during quick movement, no more sreen tearing when frame rates go above 60 fps. -No more V-sync: To avoid screen tearing in the past, I would have to turn v-sync on in my games. That produced noticeable input lag in most games I played. With this high refresh rate, you no longer have to turn V-sync on. -Bright: Perhaps too bright out of the box, but enjoying the LED backlight -Assembly: Very easy and quick to assemble. Beautiful looking, sturdy stand with tons of adjustments (height, pivot, tilt, you name it.) -Matte finish: I know some prefer a glossy screen for supposed better picture quality, but not having a monitor acting like a mirror is a huge plus for me. -3D Vision 2 capable: Havent tested 3D yet because I dont own the 3D vision kit yet (sold separately) but I do plan to get it soon. -Price: 280 here on Amazon with free shipping! Nothing else like it in the price bracket. Bigger Asus monitor and 24 Benq monitors that feature similar specs are 390-500. Cons: -I dont belive you can do 3D through HDMI input (If you can please correct me) so Id dont believe I can play 3D games and Blu-Rays with my PS3 on this. -You need a high end video card to push enough frames to make this worth it. Have at least a GTX 660Ti or similar to be able to push above 60 FPS to get the biggest benefit of this monitor. Even with a GTX 670, I had to turn down a few settings/reduce AA to get frame rates in the low 100s. Might look to SLI my GTX 670 in the future to ensure 120 FPS and buttery smooth gameplay when I go 3D. -Color and viewing angles are not as good as on other forms of LCDs (IPS panels, etc) but I dont do photo editing or plan on watching many movies on this, so that doesnt bother me. Understand going into it that this is a gaming monitor first and foremost, and you are buying this for the 144 refresh rate, 1 ms response time, and 3D Vision 2 Lightboost capabilites. Only had it for 1 day, but I am very satisified with this so far. Cant wait to go 3D and enter the 3rd dimension!

> 3 dayThis monitor is a great one, I cant deny that. Id give five stars all around but I bought this monitor in February (2020) and in May (2020) I already had 2 dead pixels. It is now October and I still only have those dead pixels, and I hardly notice them. Was just very odd that I got a brand new monitor and within 2 months already had dead pixels. I didnt write a review sooner as I wanted to see if it would get worse but so far it has not. 2nd issue is that randomly when my monitor turns on from sleep mode im met with a screen of static. I can easily fix this by pressing the power button on the monitor then turning it back on, but this issue does happen a couple times a week for no apparent reason. Id definitely say its a good monitor besides those two things. Very bright, great for gaming, good response time.

> 3 dayIll give you the scoop on this monitor. The monitor physically is built well. adjusting the height and orientation is so smooth. you got pretty much all the inputs you need. So you get this monitor, open it up, hook it up (please use a Displayport cable first choice, otherwise you can use the dvi cable it comes with but i used a displayport cable). You turn on the monitor and right off the bad your gonna notice some of the biggest flaws of this monitor. The colors are washed out, dull, contrast ratio isnt great either. At this point your gonna wanna do 2 things, make sure you enable and set your monitor to 144hz in Windows 10/gfx settings. the 2nd thing you want to do is adjust the colors and brightness/contrast. This is the most frustrating things about this monitor. It feels like a constant push and pull contest between you and the monitor for getting colors just right. and to my experience I never have got them the way I like it consistently. every day i feel like i am tweaking settings. Especially if I am playing games and then going back to everyday use. its like the color profiles get all screwy. i find this to be the biggest headache with this monitor. Your not gonna be happy with everyday monitor use out of this thing. BUT....... with gaming, i think this monitor is pretty good.the color issues you dont really notice as much in gaming. you get the super fast refresh rates and gaming from 60hz to 144hz monitor is such a treat. No ghosting, and response rate is super fast. i think this is where this monitor shines... its super fast for those competitive gamers. This leads me to my conclusions about this monitor. If you are only going to be buying this for gaming, go for it. however if you are looking to use this to do anything else, like browse the internet or watch movies or work in photoshop or write code... man its really disappointing monitor for that. the colors and white and black levels are just so poor and color reproduction is mehh... this monitor has 1 purpose only and thats gaming... its great for gaming, horrible for anything else. Luckily for me i have a nice dell ultrasharp UDH for my everyday use, and its amazing for movies, browsing, photoshop and coding (things i do alot of). So my ASUS VG248QE is only being used for gaming. But i was honestly disappointed with this monitor on how bad it was for non gaming use. i am really considering returning this and trying out some newer 144hz monitors and try out a VA or a IPS panel and see how it compares. PROS: - sturdy - easy ajustments - 144hz 1ms response - great for competitive gaming CONS: - horrible quality for non gaming use - out of box colors are terrible - adjusting colors/brightness/contrast is a continuous struggle - viewing angles are not great even for a TN panel - bad for non-gaming use

> 3 dayBrightness/Contrast - wow, its greats for the movies and games that you might enjoy the contrast and brightness ratios that it offers. Stand - pivots and rotates for those who like the option to flip their screen 144 HZ - Amazing for gaming and you need some decent gpu setup to even make use of the 144 hz. Its only the downside, but you can always pickup a cheaper 60 hz monitor. Sound - Not too many monitors do the whole integrated speakers too often, which works great for consoles that you plug into the monitor and it has a headphone so you dont bother others. 3d support - Granted it works should you have the right 3d glasses to work for games and movies, but it when it does; its great. Settings - take a bit of time to adjust the screen, so it doesnt bother your eyes that much. Just wished you could set your own predefined settings that you could switch easily. Like the game/night view, standard, and rgb modes. The monitor is seeming to fail, and it has been flashing white constantly lately. Not really sure whats going on here. Had the monitor for at least 6 months and now it seems to do this while gaming or watching a movie. Looked up to see if anyone else is having this issue. Not really much on it. Probably going to need to get a replacement soon. Well, the screen acts up and in which there is alot of flickering going on and then seemingly just stops. Update: 1/29 The warranty - is so slow. Like one to two weeks to get a replacement sent out after you send in your old monitor. Advanced replacement can be sent out on your behalf; well if you want a 250 charge on your card. Advanced replacement still takes one to weeks; irregardless of sending in the monitor and then waiting the one to weeks out. Any who, rma process is supposed to take two to three day, then you use the fedex shipping that asus gives you. Of course asus covers shipping fees, which is nice not too worry about. Wish there was an expedited shipping on the advanced replacement or returning process. Probably at least a month without a monitor sucks, but at least the warranty will cover this.

> 3 dayFor those of you that wanted a 144 Hz/1ms delay monitor for a good price, this monitor does the job. Please keep in mind that out of the box it does not come with a display port/DVI-dual link cable, so you will need to buy those as well if you want to reach 144 refresh rate. As other reviews said the monitor does have washed out colors, I used the settings below (courtesy of Reddit) which helped it a lot. Settings: -Theater mode -Contrast = 83 -Saturation = 42 -Color temp = user mode with all three set to 83 -Skin tone = natural -Sharpness = 50 -Trace Free = 40 -ASCR = On Getting 144 Hz on Windows 10: Also note the monitor will default to 60 Hz out of the box, even with a new cable. To change this on Windows 10 (with creators update) go to display settings, click display adapter properties, and then click the monitor tab and select the refresh rate you want. (if you have more than 1 monitor make sure to have the right one selected before trying to change the settings). Overall, for the price, its a good monitor, arrived quickly and in good condition. Will probably buy a second one to replace my other monitor, Overwatch looks great on it.

> 3 daylet me preface this by saying in the past I have had 60Hz monitors with a response time somewhere around 5ms, needless to say this is a major upgrade from the past. The monitor showed up in its base packaging, no exterior box around it to hide what was in it, which annoyed me but is no reason to take a star off from this product. inside it was padded with some Styrofoam and it had some thin plastic over the glossy parts so as to prevent smudges and initial damage from the factory. It also comes with an attachment at the base that helps to keep the power cord and the DVI Cable from being seen. There are three cords included in the packaging, a DVI Cable for video, an AUX Cable for the built in speakers, and of course the Power Cable. the AUX Cable feels rather cheap and probably wont hold up to much wear and tear, however both the power cord and the DVI Cable appear sturdy and of better quality. there are also ports available for other inputs such as HDMI, and Displayport, however it does NOT include those cables, it only includes a Dual-Link DVI Cable. One word of caution, although it may just be my cable, but I tried to plug an HDMI Cable in, but it would not transmit at the full 144Hz, it limited itself to about 60 Hz. it may have been my cable specificly but that is something to watch out for. The monitor comes with a CD that includes some software to manage and adjust various settings, however it is also available straight from the manufacturers website. Now for the features on this! The VG248QE Comes with a built in cross hair setting that displays either a Green or Red with two different types on the screen. I find this is cool in concept, even useful in games like Counter Strike, but I do have a couple of grievances. for one, the Red Crosshairs are offset by about a pixel to the right, this may be me being picky but that bothers the living daylights out of me! also I dont like how fancy the crosshairs are, I would personally prefer a simple + without all the other crap around it. And lastly I wish the image size was customizable. there is too much screen space taken up by it in my opinion, so adjusting the size would be nice! it comes with various preset monitor settings including, Theater, Gaming, Scenery, Night View, sRGB, and Standard. From what I can tell, the changes are as follows: Scenery Livens up the colors, making colors brighter, which you commonly seen done on professional photography level. Gaming brightens the colors as well but with less contrast, allowing you to see figures in the dark shadows. it also Sharpens the images, giving defining figures I have not yet tested the other modes, so I can not comment on them. The screen itself moves 90 degrees clockwise, it will also swivel on its stand, be angled anywhere between 15 and -5 degrees and it can move up and down ~11cm. I love the way you move this monitor, its not jerky, and there dont appear to be any preset spots for it to sit, instead it almost flows when you adjust it up and down. I have also not had any issues of it falling down or repositioning itself in any way thus far. One slightly disappointing thing is that the Viewing angles seem rather narrow, and I find I can not have too many people crowd around it. Now onto the things everyone cares about. The Refresh rate. As I have previously stated up to this point every monitor I have owned has been a 60Hz monitor. Needless to say there is a large difference between 60 and 144 Hz. However I could not tell at first, simply because I forgot to go into NVidias Control Panel and allow my G Card to go above 60 fps. Once I had that figured out, I dont think I will ever go back! The motions of moving, in game or in the browser are remarkably smooth, so much so that it was very unsettling at first. and everything on screen is so much clearer! your graphics card doesnt have to render blurred images because your producing more images each second, so they can be clearer, more precise. This improved refresh-rate made this monitor worth every penny! To Long? Didnt Read? Heres a quick Pros Cons! Pros: 144Hz 1ms Response time multiple preset screen settings Built in crosshair Low in price compared with other 120/144Hz monitors 24 Inches Cons: Did not come with 3D Gear No USB Ports Narrow viewing angle Red Crosshairs Slightly offset All in all, as a avid gamer, I highly recommend getting this monitor, assuming of course that you are getting ~144 fps in game! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: 7-31-14 So after using this monitor a while I tried playing on a different monitor at 60 Hz, for those that own this monitor you know, it is painful to try to go back! it feels so choppy and extremely blurred compared with the ASUS 144HZ. I still have had no issues with the screen moving, and not a single dead pixel yet, whereas my old 60 Hz monitor has about three scattered about the screen. I find that I usually play in the gaming mode due to the added ability to see the enemy hidden in the shadows!

> 3 dayi love that it looks so good 2 hdmi slots and 1 display port 1 for wired headphones its exactly what it says high frame rate with very sharp image without losing anything i leave it on adaptive frame rate because i hear bad news about g sync often very good for the price.
