Extremely fun headphone. EQ is a must since they sound pretty dark out of the box. Theyre quite comfortable despite being pretty chonky. Soundstage and layering isnt amazing on these like something from Hifiman, but it is extremely detailed and articulate, plus they wont fall apart in a year. Youll be able to pick up the subtlest sounds with ease. Amazing sub bass (exceptional dynamic range, descent amount of slam), crisp mids and treble. Theyre slightly rolled off on treble which is nice for me since It makes longer listening sessions more enjoyable. I like to listen to a lot of busy tracks (mainly EDM/electronic). They sound pretty forward without being too much. Vocals and instruments sound natural (vocals to me sounded artifical on Sundaras and Anandas). These respond to EQ very well so you can tune them to your personal preference. One thing to note is that you will need an amp with some juice. I run these off of a Onkyo home theater receiver, which has plenty headroom. Tried them out with a JDS atom and Shiit magni heresy and they left a lot on the table compared to what I was able to get out with the Onkyo. Love these headphones very much. Id compare them to the 2-C, but Ive never listened to them. I also havent had any issues with the screws on the can to strap couple like some have had (blue Loctite if any issues) and the factory cable is very good as well. This headphone is not going to be everyones favorite, but it definitely checked the boxes for me. If instrument separation and soundstage are extremely important to you, Id probably look for something else. I only have limited experience with different headphones, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. However Ive personally never listened to anything that made me so impressed every time I put them on. Oh big plus I forgot to mention. Audeze is located and manufactures their headphones here in the states. They offer a 3 year warranty on the drivers as well. I truly gave Hifiman a chance but when you get a defective unit out of the box it kind of leaves a bitter taste on the tongue.

This is my first pair of high-end, audiophile headphones. I have tried driving them with the iFi hip dac, and they sound excellent. The bass boost function on the amp sounds absolutely incredible on these headphones, yes it is bass heavy sound but if you are into that, these headphones can handle it and sound unbelievable. No distortion, deep and fast bass while keeping the mids and highs perfectly clear.

Definitely an improvement, with a bit of weight loss and some actually decent tuning, making the LCD-X competitive with higher tier and more expensive cans. Their still the heaviest in my collection but are sonically weightier then most along with its better dynamics, instrument separation and sound stage.

Best headphones I own, absolutely hifi, bring out the best in music. Heavy, yes, but dont let naysayers turn you off completely.

Well built but muddy sounding, with little high-frequency detail. Very heavy and uncomfortable.

Just excellent build quality. They sound more spacious but other than that they dont sound any better than my $150 ATH-M50x to my ears. The low end really opens up with break in so thats not the problem i originally thought it would be out of the box. i really, really, really wanted to keep these, they are so beautiful, but i just cant justify it by the sound. Maybe i need to step up in price range to get what im looking for....

Had a hard time deciding between lcd x, Arya and focal clear. Super happy with these, amazing sound quality. They’re def heavy, so I need to take a break after 4 hours or so. I’m sure I’ll get used to them more as time passes as it’s only a minor discomfort after the 4th hour. Bass hits perfect and the detail in every instrument is surreal.

This thing is built like a tank, you could use it for self-defense its so strong. Its heavy enough to feel the weight when I turn my head but honestly, I love it. Ive gotten used to it. The weight kinda reminds me to lay back and listen. Its pretty comfortable with the leather strap and squishy earpads despite the weight. It looks like its built to last a century. Its like one of those they dont make em like they used to kinda products from the 1950s. 5/5 durability

I purchased these as an open box. Running through my system with an RME DAC (add bass shelf an tame one peak) with either a tube amp or my solid state, these rival much more expensive headphones. I alternate back and forth between these and my ZMF Verites, which are more than double the price. The ZMF have better stage, more bass impact, and slightly more resolution (SLIGHTLY). Overall technical qualities are maybe 10% better on the verite.

These headphones are beautifully crafted and sound amazing. The stage is kind of narrow but they offer exceptional clarity and are exciting and fun to listen to.

This is the latest advancement of our famous LCD-X (effective March 2021). Many say the LCD-X is the most neutral of the LCD Collection; they’re used by sound engineers and musicians to create the most accurate recordings. Just Google Manny Marroquin, Stuart Hawkes, Frank Filipetti, Ed Cherney, George Massenburg, Elliot Scheiner, or Brent Burge for a few examples of our Audeze users. They do a great job of translating your mix to the real world. The X and its brother, the closed-back XC, are sensitive enough to be driven directly by portable players like iPods, iPhones, and some of the better smartphones, but you’ll enjoy much better sound with an external amplifier. Its impedance is 20 ohms.

Audeze"s exclusive Planar Driver design has lower distortion

Diaphragms thinner than a human hair

We use space-age materials in an ultra thin diaphragm four times larger than typical headphones for fast response times, dramatically reduced distortion, higher resolution and improved imaging.

Near zero distortion

Double-sided magnet arrays delivers a uniform driving force across the entire diaphragm for near zero distortion.

Internal waveguide

Patented Fazor Elements guide internal headphone soundwaves to avoid resonances for a more accurate waveform.

The Audeze story

Audeze started in 2008 in a garage (of course!) when its founders came across a revolutionary flexible circuit material developed for NASA. Realizing this could be a great advance in planar magnetic technology, they first started to make pro audio PA speakers, but dropped this project and started making headphones!

Taking this first headphone to the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest, it was a tremendous hit, and that success launched the company. Hanging on that garage wall was the 2001 Space Odyssey poster, and that inspired the company’s name. The founders wanted a name that had something to do with a “journey through audio,” so Odyssey would be perfect, and that’s how the name Audeze (pronounced “odyssey”) was born.
