I bought a 25 inch of this suitcase before and I like it. I didn’t have any problems until I bought the 21 inch carry on. The quality is very questionable. There were gold and black threads sticking out where the stitching is by the zippers, and it was all around the suitcase. The zipper for the little pocket inside the suitcase was also defective. When I pulled up the handle and moved the suitcase around, it didn’t feel great to maneuver. Getting a replacement but if the replacement is the same, I’m just never going to buy from American Tourister again.

This review is for all 3 sizes of American Tourister Belle Voyage hardside swivel wheel expandable luggage. Sizes are 28 inch checked bag, 24 inch checked bag and 20 inch carry-on bag.

I recently got the Kenneth Cole hardside luggage. My wife & I fell in love with. The opportunity came up to try this. It really pales in comparison unfortunately. The plastic that makes up the sides here is not that stiff and pretty flexible. I dont think its likely to last long on airplanes and what not. The size is off. Its a little too long, but not really as wide as it could be. You may hit issues putting it in the overhead because of the length (the Cole stuff has barely fit a couple of times). Also, the way its constructed, one side is more taken up by the handles than in the Cole bag. The zippers are ok, but dont seem great. Overall, the construction and material is just not the greatest. Not bad, but not that good. Id suggest going after the other bag.

I have been using the referenced Amazon Basic TSA lock 20 carry-on for a while and it has been great so when Vine offered me to chance to review the American Tourister equivalent I jumped at the opportunity to see if the Basics brand was on par with a major name brand. As you can see from the images they share many of the same features - privacy compartments, expandable middle section, small item pouches, and other organizational conveniences. Both are well built and durable as far as I can tell based on the AT being as solid as the AB model. Besides the TSA lock on the AB model the AT brings some very nice bling and while at first I was surprised at how much it stood out it has come to be very appreciated. My wife in fact took it from me and has claimed it as hers which is fine. She has used soft-side spinners and this was her first hard side and she loves it. She often has to travel (by car) for one to two days and this is perfect for everything she needs and for getting from the parking deck to the hotel or event it cannot be beat. While I will miss the bling, I prefer the TSA locks since I fly more often then drive. Overall a great choice and a 10 year warranty against defects.

After having purchased a less expensive and definitely lesser quality carry-on, bag, and returning it, I decided to purchase this bag. I only got it yesterday, so I haven’t had a chance to use it yet but so far I am very impressed. It is very high-quality inside and out. The zippers and wheels are really good quality and I love the design. It’s shiny with little geometric shapes, and I also love the gold zippers. I hope the quality is just as good as the style.
