Bird Kabob Chiquito Chew Toy

Frodo, our six-month old double yellow head Amazon parrot, loved this chew toy so much he shredded this thing in two days, with 90% of it lying in tiny pieces at the bottom of the cage by the first day. Only the string was left by the end of the second day. Now, if a chew toy so easily destroyed like this one were priced at somewhere under a dollar, or better yet, under fifty cents, I would be writing, SUPER TOY! FIVE STARS! But, the reality is that (at the time of this writing) this toy costs around ten dollars. And since I am not in the habit of putting ten dollar bills in Frodos cage for him to shred as chew toys, thats the last time I will be buying this toy. This chew toy did provide food for thought as to what would make for an inexpensive chew toy. Some immediate ideas that came to mind were to start planting some Yucca trees so as to make some of these yucca-based chew toys myself, and to try hanging some ears of corn in the cage. I bought these as a new cockatoo mommy (adopted her at 6 yrs old after the elderly lady who had her died) I will not buy again only because of the rope very very dangerous it only takes once I had a breeder tell me (which is where I got my Macaw from) he has had SO MANY people call with the horrible news that their bird strangled ON ROPE it only takes once so now I am afraid to ever purchase these again although my Cockatoo loves them if I can find them with thicker chain or something else less dangerous I would buy them but never again with the rope ROPE IS A NO NO

Parrot approved! My Meyers Parrot absolutely LOVES these! I purposely bought this style to divide into 3 separate kabobs, smart move since it took him one hour to completely destroy one kabob and the African Grey had his gone in 20 minutes. Highly recommended to keep your bird entertained, I will be purchasing more to use as a special treat!

The minute I placed it on the outside cage in the back porch they were on it chewing it. Its great has three strings of sponge to chew on. Good value for the money. I bought this size because it was a good choice for my three Cockteils to chew on.
