Much larger that I thought it would be. Bird is very happy with it.

My bird has always loved these types of activity mats but this is the first one I’ve ever received that I wasn’t comfortable giving to my bird before modifying it and removing pieces. This is made in China and doesn’t have a brand tag on it. It looks like a nice toy but if you have a destructive bird (my guy is small but very strong and destructive) you might want to remove the bells and the metal fasteners (that look like key rings). I don’t think they are bird safe (I’ve never seen these fasteners used on bird toys) and besides not knowing what the metal is made of, they bend easily and when bent can trap a bird’s toe … or beak. They are the type of key rings where you stick your key between the two pieces of metal and then rotate the key. The rings have sharp ends when bent. There is also a larger round metal clip that holds some beads and one end has a hinge and the other end has two pieces that clasp together but could be opened by a smart bird like mine in two seconds. I removed it so my bird wouldn’t accidentally open it and come crashing down. That ring is a “people item” and not meant for birds (and if these aren’t meant for birds, I can’t be sure they do not contain lead or something else unsafe). One of the toys also unfastened and fell off while I was handling so I had to tie it back on. I removed all the bells and replaced the metal fasteners with bird safe plastic ones before giving to my bird. The photo shows some of the items I removed. The thing that looks like a spring was a keyring that I pulled apart to remove. It has one very sharp unfinished rough end that could cause a cut. The metal pieces are not 100 percent safe for inquisitive parrots.

My bird didn’t hesitate to start going to town on this toy. It will probably not last to long but will be buying more.

I bought two of these toys, one for my parakeets and one for my lovebirds. They all loved the toy but my love birds destroyed within 3 days, which was a bit disappointing since it is a bit expensive...
