Great vacuum… I highly recommend! Especially if you have a German Shedder dog!

The battery is compatible with other B&D 20v tools, like my Matrix drill, which is why I got this model. It takes about 3 or 4 passes over the same area to clean my car floor mats, and while thats ok for a quick touch up, I think this model is better suited to non-carpeted situations.

I like the ability to change out batteries and recharge or replace them as needed. The filter cleaning is much easier.

The main reason I purchased this model is that it uses the B&D 20 Volt Max battery. I have an assortment of Black and Decker 20V tools with extra batteries. Just be careful that you do not put the filter assembly in upside down (it sort of fits). The cover will go on just enough to jam, then you will have a real problem trying to get it open again. Overall, I like it.

Ok for most uses Not so much when you vacuum your car floor mats

I previously purchased the Black & Decker model PHV1810 and CHV1410L. I had to throw away both units after about 3 years because they could not keep a charge and the batteries were not replaceable. It seems like such a waste to get rid of items that are still functioning well mechanically. This vacuum comes with a detachable/replaceable battery and a charger; it has a larger bin, and the filter is washable. It is much quieter than the two previous models and has very good suction power. The battery lasts much longer on a full charge. I was able to vacuum the whole inside of my car and it still had a lot of juice left. I believe at full charge, the run time is about 20 minutes (twice as long as my previous B&D vacuums).

The size, battery support, suction are all positive. With some tweaks this vac would be a solid 5 star. Be very careful when cleaning for the first time - Before replacing the dustbowl, press and hold the release button on the handle as you replace the dustbowl until it seats. If you dont, the release button will seize and there is no way to correct the problem. The biggest plus for this vac is the detachable battery!

Great little vacuum. I have several 20 volt batteries and chargers that I use with my other Black and Decker tools. Was nice to be able to purchase this vacuum without the battery and charger.
