Brown & Sharpe 599-4816 48-Piece Thread Measuring Wire Set
-
Cale Gibson
> 3 dayI guess the days are gone when the name Brown & Sharpe was synonymous with high quality. The very cheap vinyl pouch arrived with one end fully split open and the thread wires spilling out. The thread wires themselves are roughly finished on the ends, as may be seen from the photo, and the chamfered edges are sharp. The packaging does not state a country of manufacture, but its pretty easy to surmise where these were made. All-in-all, I am not confident that the wires have accurate diameters, and Ill be darned if Im going to take the time to measure them all. Perhaps this is all one may expect for $30 these days. Back to Amazon they go.

Greater than one weekNice set a reasonable price. I dont need them often , but its nice to know I have them when I need them. And they come with a chart .

> 3 dayI lathe cut threads only a few times a year, so I really dont want to spend the money on an expensive Thread Mic. This Wire Set works well and verifies that my threads are pitch perfect!

Greater than one weekJust opened these and was rather shocked by the finish. I have not measured the diameters yet (I am sure they are perfectly adequate,) but the ends have tits, burrs, steps, and widely varying chamfer sizes...I will get back to you on the consistency of the diameters.

> 3 dayIf you need to measure pitch diameter and dont want to invest in a specialized micrometer, buy this set. It takes a little practice to use, but it seems to give very accurate results.
