> 3 dayWhile CAT 6A certainly is more than adequate for home use I only needed a couple connections and opted for CAT8 since the price wasnt excessive and thought--WHY NOT :-) I would stay away from CAT7 as the connector ends might not be consistent among vendors and this category is NOT approved anyway by IEEE for networks. The rule of thumb is for most networks and the cabling to devices opt for CAT6A and use CAT8 FOR DATACENTER connections like connecting servers to switches in the same or nearby racks. CAT8 has a 30 meter distance as opposed to CAT6A which is the familiar 100meter. CAT8 is good for devices in the same room essentially. I actually got it as I like the shielding properties on this category cable especially when we are talking about homes that have all sorts of interference-causing devices and power cabling and such. I really wanted this for connecting between my cable provider gateway and my router primarily to ensure as interference-free connection as possible. CAT6A would work fine too and anyone with any IT experience knows full well 99.9999999% of people will never know the difference in terms of speed or bandwidths between CAT6A and CAT8. As I said, WHY NOT..... I would NOT purchase CAT8 cables for any more than a few devices as the costs wouldnt be justified and CAT6A is just fine too. The CAT8 cables are well made and you can tell from the connectors and the foil shielding these would last a long time and would hold up under most conditions.

> 3 dayI purchased after seeing the benefit of an updated CAT8 cable. When I connected this cable to the cable modem, it was surprisingly slower than I expected. So I connected the 50 ft CAT8 cable I purchased prior to these. The speed was double that of these cables. I tested multiple times on multiple devices and got the same results each time. I would not purchase again.
