I bought this as my portable key, but its rapidly becoming my favourite key all-round. I replaced the knob with a wooden drawer-pull because I prefer that feel, but other than that its great.

This is an amazing key! Plugs directly into my Yaesu ft-991a and works great! Very high quality and loss good too! Well worth the price!

So this little straight key is the perfect balance of weight, motion and finish for a pocket sized straight key. I like the paint finish, it feels nice and does not get slippery with finger oils. I was unsure of the magnetic design versus, lets say a spring, but the magnet was responsive and allows for a nice crisp snap up and down of the key. Really nice for the price. Im new so its important to me to get quality but not spend an arm and a leg for something I may not love, I can say I took a gamble, but it wasnt a gamble and in do love it! This is a quality putikeeg product. I would definitely buy again or try their other products. See my micro paddle review, they (putikeeg) really makes a nice product! They are 2 for 2 with me and Id definitely recommend them to any the new hams learning morse code.

The key is mainly constructed of anodized aluminum. Thr base feels like it might be weighted. There is a screwed down hatch on the bottom, but I didnt open it up, presumably this is to access the wiring for the 1/8 phone jack, but it might also be access for weighting the base. The spring tension is adjusted by a thumb screw that moves two opposing magnets closer or farther apart. I found it a little difficult to get just the right sweet spot with travel and magnetic pressure, but I am not that practiced with straight keys yet so it might not be an issue to an experienced straight key user. Overall its a little smaller than a typical J38 key, mostly because the knob doesnt extend as far out from the base. There are 4 TPE rubber feet on the bottom to help keep it from slipping around, but they will be more or less effective depending on the surface you set it on, and whether they are dirty or clean. Id like to see a couple of holes for screw mounting to a heavier base for those who want one. It was also supplied with a short phone plug cable and a drawstring pouch. Overall it seems to be built well and looks nice on a desk. If straight keys are your thing, this might be worth a try.

Really nice build quality, finish is great as well as the machining.

The key design itself is very nice and the adjustment for travel is well done. The adjustable magnetic resistance works as it should. A true novice might have a learning curve getting it to work right but someone with a straight key experience can get it to be a good-functioning key.

The key I received, large size, did not have the knob pictured on the left of my photo, but the dish-top knob thats on the small size key on the right. Is there a way to obtain the left knob? This would be a five star review if not for that. The dish top knob causes fatigue in my wrist. Thank you.

This key is a great portable key. For having such a small size, It responds well and more importantly has a good weight for such as small key. The material and finish are very nice. It also has a nice little travel bag to protect the key. I would recomend this to anyone wanting to do portable CW operations.
