For What Its Worth
> 3 dayIMHO: Im amazed at all the high ratings these hooks received. I bought all 3 sizes offered here on Amazon and I will never use them. When I first received and unwrapped them - anxious to give them a try - I was shocked - I tied on a slip knot and started to make a chain and the yarn wouldnt even move over the hook! It was like it was glued there in place! I asked myself what could i possibly be doing wrong? Was it the soft acrylic yarn I was using? Maybe - so I tried using wool yarn - same thing happened - I tried a different acrylic yarn - didnt make any difference. Later in the day I tried again and this time the yarn moved better but it was still WAY SLOW and very annoying - each stitch was like taking a step in the mud wearing heavy boots that keep getting heavier with every step you take. I didnt want to leave a bad review without first contacting the company so I got on their site and sent them an email - alas, they did not reply - so - I have come to some conclusions on my own: These particular plastic crochet hooks are definitely not for me - I feel I just threw my money away (of course I tore off the wrappers and dumped the trash so I couldnt return them - learned a lesson there). I think temperature and/or dryness or humidity effects these hooks - I think thats why on my first try the yarn barely moved at all. My hooks had just arrived in the mail and I had retrieved them from my mailbox on the corner - my cold metal mailbox - who knows how long the Amazon box had been sitting inside there? So - when I first opened and unwrapped the hooks to test them out, they were cold - possibly slightly dampish from having been brought into the warm house? They didnt feel damp but they did feel cold. In conclusion: I think in general plastic cant even begin to compete with aluminum as far as crochet hooks go - yarn moves over aluminum 100% better - smoother and much faster and Ive never experienced any difference using them in the summer v s the winter. The only reason I can come up with that they decided to make plastic hooks in the first place is that its probably a cheaper process for the manufacturer. I have arthritis so I thought maybe they used plastic to make the hooks lighter and easier for those with arthritis to handle. I weighed them and they are indeed lighter, but as far as Im concerned the weight difference comes nowhere near to canceling out the DRAG of using plastic hooks. Ive just found some ergonomic ALUMINUM hooks in these same sizes on Amazon - they cost more than the plastic hooks, but I will gladly pay more and dump these plastic hooks in the trashcan. I wouldnt even think of passing them on to another as they as SUCH a pain to use!!!

> 3 dayUsed this for two projects so far and I love how lightweight and smooth it is. I cant speak to durability as Ive not had it long, but I liked it enough to get another one in a different size.
