Coding for Kids: Learn to Code Minecraft Command Blocks - Video Game Design Coding Software - Computer Programming Courses, Ages 9+ (PC, Mac Compatible)

My 8 y/o is a Minecraft nerd, and just generally very interested in nerdy tech stuff, so this seemed perfect for him. He had asked me about command blocks before, but my computer expertise doesnt stretch far beyond Excel/VBA and the EHR system our hospital uses.

I thought this was a book when I ordered it. This is a card with a code to redeem on a website for the lessons. The lessons are good and easy to follow for a 6 year old. Lessons are good length and not to long. This is good for anyone interested in learning monecraft command block coding

I got this for my son because he likes both Minecraft and coding. What I did not know is that this is based on Minecraft Java Edition, which my son does not have. So now he cant even use this until he gets Minecraft Java Edition. It would have been nice to know this ahead of time, so I could have set up to have that as well.

I liked that this came as an actual card instead of just a digital code. I got this to use with one of my homeschool kids.

Really engaging if you don’t know the gists of coding. Play a game while you learn! I really like how simple it was to set up on my computer and the walk through tutorial was easy to follow. Wish there were more advanced levels is all but maybe there’s a different software game for that

Since this was a gift for my nephew, I asked him to write a review, from a users point of view. The following review is from my 10 year old nephew - indirectly quoted (edited for grammer and clarity):

Our child has used scratch before so they understand code blocks, but this grabbed their attention more since they could do it in Minecraft.

Minecraft command blocks are sources of unlimited power or control depending on the code behind them. Video tutorial style seems to fit what kids are used to with YouTube. I wouldnt ask my 13 yo to go figure it out, I would stay available to help unstuck him when he overlooks an error.

I thought this was a great idea and could work well. I do networking as a profession and never got into coding which I really wanted to. I could never find the time so I tried this to get started. The only thing is it did not keep my interested long enough to stick with it. If I have time, I may take this up again in the future.

My 10 year old has been really interested in coding and this was a great place for him to start. He truly is a beginner and this program has taught him the basics and even held this adult noob. It was really easy to install and easy to understand and they made it fun. Highly recommend
