I bought a mid-2012 MacBook Pro with an Ivy Bridge i7 @ 2.9ghz and 8gb of memory from the factory. This memory is a great upgrade to the system. 8GB is pretty much the minimum I would recommend on a system like this for anyone who multitasks or who uses their system for any type of heavy work.
