I am using this to optically isolate the ethernet connection between two buildings. This device works with PoE or power supply which provides great flexibility.

I currently use this for my projector which Id imagine has to be one of the better use case scenarios. Ive had no issues and setup is simple!

If youre a networking professional then these are exactly what it says on the tin, and good quality. To everyone that might be confused, these are kind of like magic. Im just spanning a small distance, but one where I cant run an ethernet cable. This let me run a fiber optic cable (thinner, non-metallic, more heat-resistant) and its fully transparent. the computer at the other end thinks its connected directly to the switch (or router) and its working like magic.

I removed the fiber dust caps, connected a fiber jumper, and ran them to my poe switches. Speed test, ber test all ran clean. The little act leds flashed as they should. These work with one outside in sub-freezing weather (protected from moisture) and one in a slightly warm server rack. No problems found. I did not use the external power adapter socket but got power from power over ethernet from my switches. Recommended.

We added a bank of cameras in the back of our 48,000 sq. ft. warehouse. This is my first time using fiber, but we ran the line and connected the two POE switches together with the fiber cable and successfully added 6 cameras in the back using CAT-6 lines from the backend POE switch. This solution works very well and was pretty much just plug and play with no configuration for the fiber portion of the run. I will be using these for any future runs.

If you dont feel like paying for and programming a switch with SFPs on each end of a lengthy network run, these are a great solution. They can run on PoE at each end, or a barrel plug adapter that supplies anywhere between 12V and 48V (typical PoE range). I was able to confirm gigabit speeds with these 10/100/1000 Mbps adapters. These do use a single strand of single mode fiber, meaning they dont support full duplex communication, however this was not an issue for me. The fiber connections on these are SC Simplex female. Seeing as single mode fiber is able to carry a signal much farther than copper, these are just what you need for a lengthy run, like to connect two buildings. These are made of metal, and feel durable. They are small, and simple to tuck away. I feel no hesitation in recommending these.

The Cqenpr media converter functions well when correctly setup and installed. Note, one of the listing images (woman holding the unit between her fingers) is obviously a bad Photoshop job as it lists the dimensions correctly but makes the converter appear to be about 50% smaller than it really is. The device works at the advertised speed but one point that isnt perfectly clear in all the photos and information is that you must either provide PoE or DC 12-48V at each media converter. A couple of the images seem to suggest that power can somehow miraculously travel over the fiber cable to the other end. There is even an image which shows a distance of 3km with arrows between the two converters and text which reads DATA+Power. In my configuration I was setting up a distant PoE camera; I had an Ethernet cable to the A coupler, which was connected to a PoE switch, then a SC/APC cable between the A and B couplers and at the B coupler side I attached a 12V DC adapter and then an Ethernet cable to the PoE camera. Everything works great and the configuration allows me to have a camera at a good long distance away without additional networking hardware at the remote location beyond the B coupler and its power source.

They are small, unobtrusive, and they provide plenty of power. I needed it for an access point that I put in my house and love it. Much easer than trying to deal with either external power, or the expense of a POE switch. . . Will work with security cameras too as long as they support POE (which a lot of home consumer cameras dont, so make sure yours does befor you go buying the wrong stuff). Great little device!

I have only tested these on the bench, but they seem to work just fine. I was concerned from other reviews that I may have only gotten a 10/100MHZ unit, but these are 10/100/1000MB units. I do want to test them in the field and check the range and actual throughput. I connected them to a regular 802.3af/802.3AT POE switch and after a quick boot up they worked just fine. Really handy idea, it saves having to use a regular media converter with SFP, another power adaper and etc. They really are just plug and play. Great Idea, and really nice product. I will update this review if my field testing turns up any problems.
