this hook was just what I needed. Our tools are projecting out rather than taking up space going across the garage wall. Not sure what the flip up part does but in the down position the hook does exactly what I needed it to do.

I use it to hang folding chairs in my garage on it, love it.

I bought this item with hopes of using it to hang 2 bicycles. While it is meant for tools, and I am sure it is great for that, it is strong enough to hold a heavier bike close to the wall and a second lightweight touring bike farther out with both very secure. It is rated for 50 pounds. This would well for a variety of tools, a single bike with helmet and gear, or if you are cautious 2 bikes
