Glad to have found this on a great Christmas time deal ! I do wish that the ease of use on initial set up was as easy as the 4 neatly-made guides in the box touted. I am an educated person and follow directions well; however, the easy 04 steps were not able to be completed. I had to find my way through - frustrating and waste of time . They need to guide their buyers as if they have NEVER seen a Cricut machine before. I think I would have much more created by now if I had clear direction. ALSO: I do wish that I didnt have to buy an Access subscription to be a valued customer. But I am still glad to have this generation machine. Hope to tackle learning it with youtube - without having to buy anything additional.

I’m new to the whole cricut making thing and for someone who is new at crafting it’s not hard to understand and cuts nice. Definitely watch some YouTube videos over it to help and especially if your using procreate to figure out what’s best for file uploading or whatever . Pleasantly surprised Edit:took away a star because over time you have to calibrate your cricut like 5 times in order to keep your cuts accurate and clean. Just know that it cuts the borders of your print at least 90% well. Meaning that , for example if you have a puppy sticker with no white border around it, it might cut off a small section of the ear inaccurately and will have to re calibrate your cricut, and even then it’s still not 100% accurate with cutting. This is why I took away a star because it’s not only me who is experiencing this but a lot of the cricut community as well. I still love my cricut but I will have to make adjustments to my drawings to compensate.

To use the Cricut you need to either create or upload designs in their software, Design Space. They have a subscription to Design Space available where they give you access to images and fully designed projects for about $10 a month. Otherwise you can create/buy designs on your own and upload them into Design Space to cut out. For a couple of days the company notified customers that there would be a new policy moving forward where uploads into Design Space would be limited to 20 a month unless a user subscribed. There was customer uproar as these were not the terms we agreed to when we purchased the machines. Cricut has now reversed this policy so I am updating my review. Ive had my machine for a few years now. I think its pretty fun. We used it a lot for our wedding: to address our invitations, make jacket envelopes, seat reserved signs and other decorations. Ive used it to make a small box divided into 12 slots to hold my pens. Right now Im using it to make decorative screens for the bottom of our upstairs window to add just a little privacy. Design Space, the software, bugs out really easy and isnt designed well. Im trained in Illustrator and Affinity Designer so I use those to create my designs. It can take longer to cut something out and then weed it all off the mat than I realize, and Ive had some designs tear due to either a dull knife or being too intricate. Its not perfect but it sparks creativity and is a bit like a grown up toy.

Would probably have to say that this is overpriced, but it made a great gift and the recipient is having a great time with it. Supplies are expensive but still it’s

So far, I think this is an okay product, You have to use their software online. It also downloads something to your computer that runs on startup which connects to the online program. I dont like programs that run on startup or that connect to an outside company. Can you say potential for hacking? It also slows down my computer when I start it. So minus one star for this. My computer is running Windows 8 and did not automatically load the drivers for the cutter. The website does tell you how to do it, however, I can see this will be a problem for the technically challenged because it requires you to access the device manager and browse for the driver. The software is fairly easy to use. I just uploaded some images, printed and cut them. They were mostly clean images that I cleaned up in another program, but cleaning the image on Cricut seems easy as well. It lets you print on your printer then cut. I dont like that there is a lot of wasted space on my paper. I dont know if I can change the margins on this, but for a cutter that will cut on 12x12 paper, it should not only cut a 9x6 area on my 8.5x11 cardstock. It does need to print a black frame around the cut area to allow the cutter to find the right lines. My printer will print with .2 inch margins or less. The first thing I cut was on 110 lb cardstock from Neenah paper. It doesnt feel heavy as light chipboard. It cut great with the regular cutter. I bought the tool set and found the spatula is useless on the cardstock, it just rips it. My fingernails worked better. The standard sticky mat holds very well, at least when new. So anything lighter may be hard to remove. I would recommend the lighter grip mat for anything thinner than cardstock. I will update as I try other papers. I bought this and 4 days later they dropped the price by $13. This really annoys me and lowers the rating by a star. Amazon no longer matches the price for products it sells. This was not sold by a third party, which I could understand, since Amazon would not have control over the deal There should be a time limit on these things, since it wasnt a sale price, just a dropped price. I totally get not matching lightening deals.

I can honestly say this is one of the best things I’ve ever purchased. I love the cricut so much and everything it has to offer. You can do so much with just a few add on items that you do have to buy but it is so worth it.

I have always wanted a cricuit and finally bought myself one for my birthday. I was nervous that it would be hard to learn, but it was not, and I have been having so much fun making decals. I am looking forward to learning to make more things. It really has limitless possibilities.
