This is a great projector that hits all the right checkmarks, except one. I can’t mirror my iPhone to this projector. This is a huge, and I mean huge negative. How could they overlook that? Really, this is a 5+ star projector if you have an android phone. iPhones are just out of luck. Very, and I mean very, bad programming decision. This is one of the best quality projectors I’ve reviewed (and I’ve reviewed over 60 in the past year.). I have no idea why they would make the poor decision not to support IPhone screen mirror. The picture quality is great. The image I provided is on a high quality screen at only 8’, but the depth of color is fantastic, among the best I’ve seen in a non-laser. I used my Roku stick and powered with its USB. No issues at all. It comes with really good autofocus which it should at this price point, Overall, one of the best projectors I’ve seen except for iPhone users. iPhone casting must be a native feature for this quality of a projector and the fact it isn’t is a major mistake. I can cast to my Roku stick, but the projector should do this natively. I hope this review was helpful!

I had never heard of Dangbei before I ordered this projector, but apparently they make some very high-quality projectors, including a 4K model that has received many positive reviews. At first I wondered why a small 1080P projector would sell for over $600. But the picture quality is definitely an order of magnitude better than all of the low-cost projectors that have flooded the market these days. The color saturation, image sharpness, and sound quality from the built-in speakers are all good enough that you could replace your TV with this projector and be happy, especially if you have a quality screen to use with it. My main TV is a Sony OLED model, so I dont plan to replace it anytime soon, but this projector is great for a variety of purposes. My children plan to use it with our PS5 to get a much larger image when playing video games. And we eventually plan to use it in our back yard to watch movies once we get a screen that we can use outdoors. If you dont have a screen you can just project the image onto a blank wall and it still looks pretty good. Another use I can think of for this projector is to take it with me when traveling. I could use this in a hotel room to watch my own movies instead of relying on the TV in the hotel room or using my iPad. Is this projector perfect? No. There are a few things that drive me crazy, like the fact that you have to use the remote to control it. There are no buttons on the unit itself to control the functions. And I wish it had AirPlay 2 support built in. For the price that this projector sells for, they could have paid Apple a few bucks to license the technology to include in it, to make it more convenient to play videos from Apple devices. The projector uses a version of Linux as the operating system. It comes with several apps including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, and others. But why dont they have YouTube TV? Thats one they definitely need to add, since many people have dropped traditional cable and switched to YouTube TV for watching and recording regular TV shows. I also think this projector is a bit overpriced given the drawbacks I mentioned. I think $400 would be a better price for this version. Hopefully they will come out with a new version in the future that fixes some of these issues. But overall I am still quite happy with this projector. For something this small, you will be hard pressed to find another projector that can match it in terms of image quality.

This is an out of the park homerun in every way. I could not be happier with this projector, I have had others (far more expensive) and this is my new #1. I am the guy my group calls on AV items to buy, this is my my go-to projector for sure. Pros- *Its very quiet, no noticeable fan noise while watching a movie. *Its bright. - For such a little box it is plenty bright for a 120 screen. *Excellent picture quality. - This is a 1080p and it looks just great. *Keystone setting are excellent. - If the projector is slightly off center or adjusting for the up/down is simple and accurate. Better than my $2000 brand I wont mention. *Speakers are OK. - Not that you will be using the speakers from this, but you could and it would be OK. Currently I am using the HDMI-ARC to my audio system. *Bluetooth audio works well. - I tested with this connected it to a BOSE sound bar and it was very good. *HDR10 - Makes a much more responsive picture. *WiFi AND Ethernet - I am a fan of wired internet, but that is not always available. The WiFi worked great and I started with that and I was streaming Netflix from out of the box to Arnold S in 4 minutes. *It stays cool. - I am not sure how this works, my other projectors through off a ton of heat, this does not. I am guessing this will assist in a prolonged life of the device. *The OS is amazing. - It has a very nice snappy interface, maybe some form of Linux or Android even, I am not sure. Netflix, Prime and YouTube are native. The Netflix setup was interesting how you validated your account with your phone. Well thought-out. *USB Ports - Yep, it works with MKV files plugged in to the USB port. *Lightweight - This is very light, you could almost hang this from the ceiling with some bubble gum. Very easy to mount. VERY. *Crazy easy to operate. - My spouse (rightfully) claims it can be hard to watch a movie with our old setup. No longer. This is very easy to operate. CONS *It did not come with 2 AAA batteries. - Really, now I am just being picky, but I had to come up with something. This is a very solid projector, if its your first buy it you wont regret it. If you are looking to upgrade, this is also a solid choice. I could not be happier.

There are only three cons to this projector: It doesnt come with a light lens cover and theres no carrying case/protective sleeve included. There are no operating buttons on this for the menu, so DO NOT lose the remote! There is only a power button on the machine. Otherwise, this is a near perfect projector for personal or commercial use, of which this will get both in my household. It displays a crystal clear, super bright image in a room WITH overhead lights on. Several overhead lights. And still, the image is bright, color rich, clear, beautiful. It is as bright as my tv screen, and I have a 4k. And thats with the lights on! Ive paid half this price for a projector thats nowhere near the brightness or quality of this one. And the speakers? On half volume, theyre almost too loud for indoor use in my living room. They are quality and crisp. A perfect pair to the image quality. The size is small. It will stand on a camera tripod. It has auto keystone correction and amazing autofocus. This comes loaded with apps, so no need for the additional purchase of a firestick or Roku. The apps are all the standards: Netflix, YouTube, prime video, but it also includes mirror casting. I havent worked out how to add additional apps yet. This was plug and play, out of the box. Press two buttons on the remote to pair to Wi-Fi, log into my accounts, and boom, ready to rock and roll. The cord is around 8 feet long. Im not sure if its a plus or minus, as the cord feeds into a block, which then has the rest of the cord from the other end. The block is heavy. If youre putting this on a ceiling as a permanent mount, I think you should buy a different cord or plan to add another shelf for the block. For my needs, the existing cord will work fine, as this will be a portable item. The fan is surprisingly quiet. My other two projectors, one larger, one a small, kind of wish app brand, are both a LOT louder than this one. The fan noise on this is practically nonexistent. Theres no built-in dust screen, but Ill put a piece of gauze over the intake to prevent/reduce dust from getting inside. This is a near perfect projector, no matter what your needs are for owning one. Ive had a few and I use them often in my job, and this is the best one that Ive ever seen. At this price point, I did not expect what I got. I expected a lot less, so getting so much more has me happy as a clam. If you want a permanent or portable projector with built in apps, with crystal clear, bright, gorgeous image output even in a very well-lit room, thats super easy to set up and use, and an excellent price point, then this is the one to go with. I have zero regrets and look forward to getting a lot of use out of this.

This projectors design is good , nice size not heavy. The issue is that the auto focus does not work good gives a blurry image even when using manual focus. The colors arent great for example purple looks bright pink. The brightness can not be adjusted at all not very bright. There is a lack of features. So what if it has Netflix? Whats so great about Netflix? You have to pay for crap movies. Tubi is way better with much better movies and its free. Also this projector says it has HDR i see no HDR settings. My xbox can detect an HDR source and says there is no HDR detected with this device. No hdr gaming? Then why the heck did I buy this projector? Its a bit of a joke. This projector is also way over priced! Dangbei needs to come out with a high end 4k projector that will be even better and brighter then the Dangbei mars pro. The Dangbei mars pro is a great projector but the colors arent acceptable. Also the eye protection does not work on my Neo which is a must have feature.

Update: Dangbei customer service was very quick to reply to the small concern I mentioned about the auto-focus to try to not change if the image is temlorarily interrupted by objects passing in front. They wrote me back saying they are actively working on an update! Previous review below... Last year, I finally decided to prepare my movie set-up downstairs and ended up doing a lot of research into projectors and ended up getting a Dangbei Mars Pro 4k. I had not heard of the company before but did find that it is well known world-wide. I was very impressed by the device. So much so that this year I decided to check what other options they had for a more portable one at a lower price point that I mat be able to take along when I travel. My search led me to the Dangbei Neo (which you can now get on sale for $539). This little beauty is pretty stylish and includes a good number of pre-installed streaming apps, to include Netflix and Amazon Prime. It also has access to its own app store, which seems to be comparable to Roku’s offerings. It even had OAN news, as an example. Now let’s go to some of the technical stuff. The Neo does offer auto focus and keystone correction, both of which it does quite well. However, I find that I can do a better job doing keystone correction manually, but that’s just me. I also do it with my other projectors. The only thing I find annoying is that the auto focus will trigger automatic correction whenever something blocks the image temporarily (like a kid standing in front of the screen, of which I have several that like to move and play around!). I wish the focus had an option to just stay put! The projector also triggers auto focus and keystone whenever you first start it up, so you will have to wait a little longer and reset your desired keystone manually if you normally do so like I do. The image quality is great! I was amazed at how much it approaches the one of my Mars Pro 4k. The info. says that it is 540 ISO, but it seems to come quite close to another that I had that was ISO 1500. I’ve included an image that shows how it looks with outside light and another with the curtains closed (the blurriness was from the movie scene, not the projector). The image is still good to play movies during the day with the curtains closed. The NEO also has two 6w speakers, which is pretty good, but I prefer to use my own sound system. Its HDMI is e-ARC compatible, which allowed to me to connect my WISA wireless speakers with no issues. I was able to get Dolby Digital Plus out of it. In general, the Neo is a well-built, solid 1080p projector. I liked the image quality and the app store app selection; no need to haul the Roku around. The sound was OK and the auto-zoom can be a bit annoying, but the picture quality and portability more than makes up for it. It would be a 5/5 if the device were to save focus and keystone settings. (As an aside, the images were projected to a 150 in screen, which exceeds the published 120 in!)
