This is a relatively simple tool, but can save you a lot of time and frustration, particularly if you put on your own cable ends. I did some cabling a while back. It is really easy to screw up on a couple wires, get wires crossed, etc. This helps you figured out beforehand if you need to redo the connections. Quite honestly, without this, you should probably just use premade cables.

For the price, I expected to have issues with the product. I recently moved into a newly constructed home and got the pre-wire whole house ethernet option, out of the 7 drops, only 1 drop was installed correctly. The Paladin Tool helped me find quickly find the faulty installation rather then plugging in a laptop to verify connectivity. I would definitely would recommend this tool, especially that for this price.

A great product for the money if what you want is to be able to identify your home network wire feeds. It is simple to use and does what it says.

I wired the lower level of my house with Ethernet cables. This tool made connecting the heads a breeze.

This RJ45 Network Cable Tester kit is essential if you need to make your own patch cables for connecting a home or business network. It is a must to the technicians networking tookkit. The Tester was used to determine if all conncetions were made correctly and or just how many of the wire connections you had right. If all the wires are not corrected in the same order on each end ot the patch cable, you will not have a successful connection. A good product and at a good price. Thanks DataShark for a tester that is practical, useful, and enconomical.

The case could be better. It does not hold the test unit and small test link jumpers. The unit runs through a test light sequence, each corresponding to a wire checked. Once you know the sequence you can see if a light is not energized, equating to an issue in the cable. For a basic and inexpensive tool it does well.

Our teams really like them and found them handy to have in their kits.

Picked this up because I was running into issues with some of the network cables I created. It took longer to unpack this and get the batteries installed than it did to determine I had created bad cables. This is a nice, simple, and quick testing device thats able to determine whats wrong with the cable being tested.

Does exactly what I needed, simple to use and the price is right. My house is wired with cat5e to most rooms and but the switch in the bell atlantic box was acting up. I needed something to be able to check connections and locate connections. This worked great!
