+ Colors are absolutely brilliant, especially once calibrated + Minimal backlight bleed on my unit, less than most IPS monitors in this price range + I MUCH prefer glossy panels to matte, and Im delighted to find that the matte finish on this doesnt detract from image quality + No inverse ghosting + Very very low input lag... more than fast enough for gaming + Cost when I bought it, $210 is a steal + Stand is fully adjustable... height, swivel & tilt + VESA mountable + DisplayPort, DVI, VGA connections + Comes with DisplayPort & VGA cables + Power on indicator LED can be turned off + Dark scenes are dark (black looks black not gray) + 1920x1080 resolution is the sweet spot for gaming -/+ IPS glow is present (like on all IPS monitors), but unintrusive - No HDMI port Ive used this for a variety of games including FPS. While fast motion/framerate handling cant compare to the 120Hz+ TN monitors out there, I have no complaints, and IMO the tradeoff in speed is worth it for the amazing image quality you get with an IPS panel. If you need a 120Hz panel youre not looking at IPS anyway. If youre looking for a beautiful, affordable IPS monitor that behaves admirably when gaming, look no further. This is the one.

I was one of the unlucky few who purchased this monitor and got an old model with a BGR subpixel layout. 99 percent of monitors on the market today use an RGB subpixel layout as a standard. For some reason, earlier versions of the P2214H shipped with a BGR layout, which means that text is going to look blurry without some work. For Windows users, this means adjusting your ClearType settings, but unfortunately it also means hoping that the Web browser you use is compatible with BGR subpixels. Chrome users should take note as the browsers DirectWrite font rendering engine is only compatible with RGB. For Mac users, your only option is to mount the monitor upside-down, which requires you to disassemble part of the monitors stand and reattach it flipped. Of course this also means that you lose any aesthetic quality the monitor had. My understanding through research is that newer models of this monitor shipped with RGB panels as a standard; however, I purchased mine from Amazon during the first week of February 2015. So just because the newer monitors have RGB panels does not mean that you will get one if you purchase it from here. I am extremely disappointed in this transaction, considering that it is otherwise a well-built monitor.

Monitor has AMAZING color & vibrance with very little light bleeding. MONITOR CAN BE OVERCLOCKED ABOUT 20HZ OVER THE STANDARD. This may not be so for every monitor, but with an Nvidia video card I overclocked it to about 72Hz. Very Happy with all Dell monitors, great value for the price. Buttons are nice, not clunky and power button has a nice LED so you can turn on monitor in with no lights on. Turned it on and off about 20 times a day for years so it is VERY DURABLE.

With all of the monitors out there today, its hard to tell the good from the bad without performing extensive research. This research needs to be combined with a bit of luck as it would be cost prohibitive for every site to cover the full product line from multiple manufacturers. The monitor that was replaced by the Dell P2014H was a 23 LG with an IPS panel. My prior effort to use a HP w2071d to achieve the desired resolution for a budget computer system resulted in excessive visual fatigue that would be exacerbated when dark images would appear. The backlighting on that 20 inch monitor was abysmal. My priorities for the display were: 1.) IPS panel 2.) 1600x900 resolution 3.) Digital input The Dell P2014H appeared to be the best of breed based on the aforementioned criteria. The overall image quality and performance is absolutely fantastic, especially at the price point that Amazon sells it for. On top of a solid image with fairly balanced backlighting (tad bit lighter in the lower right-hand corner, but not distracting or outside of expectations in this range), you get additional features that come in handy: 1.) Integrated USB hub: Using an AmazonBasics keyboard, the integrated USB cord was a bit too short for the placement of the mid-tower. Running the keyboard through the integrated hub resolved this issue, and made it easier to connect additional peripherals. 2.) Rotating display: While it would be nice to have an accelerometer or gyroscope to allow the monitor to auto-trigger the shift from portrait to landscape format, two clicks of the mouse and a quick 90 degree rotation of the monitor completely changes the dynamic of viewing websites, reading long documents, and even developing websites. The text is crisp and the mechanics of rotating the monitor results in a smooth and effortless adjustment. 3.) Adjustable height. The Dell engineers have built a solid and user-friendly stand that permits modification on the fly. Monitors that cost more than the P2014H are normally bound to a fixed stand and may result in discomfort of the neck during extended use. Be sure to download the latest utilities and drivers from Dells site to further optimize the image quality and power consumption of this display.

Love this monitor. One of the very few that has a height adjustment (which I dont understand why they all dont have this feature). My wife has the same size display (from another manufacturer) and has to put book under it so its the right height. Performs well for everyday tasks (office apps/ internet/ streaming video). I have the 22 version of this monitor at work and liked it so much that I got this bigger one for home.

Im very happy with this monitor. It looks very good. My only regret was purchasing one of the Dell UltraSharp monitors for another client shortly after I bought this one for myself. I wish Id spent a little bit more for the Ultrasharp line. The bezels on the UltraSharp are so much smaller! In any case, this is a great monitor. Im very pleased with it. I regularly wish Id spent the money on a new monitor sooner.

Before I bought it, I read the reviews. But I cannot confirm the complaint about panel quality. Perhaps that observed phenomenon is related to the typical property of an IPS display. It has a high contrast (horizontal and vertical) except the corners. But if your sitting very close to the display then you may see the fading on the corners. Well Ive bought several IPS monitors from DELL in the past and I got never disappointed. So it was this time. - Very fast delivery! - Zero Pixel failure. - The vivid colors are stable over a wide viewing range. - Bright display with good contrast and an even light distribution. - Runs very cool. Only one thing is missing for calling it perfect: The gamma value cannot be manipulated in the setup of the monitor. It has to be done in the display settings of the attached computer. Personally I think it is the monitor with the best value. Sure, I recommend it!

This is a great monitor. It has a sturdy stand. Images are bright, clear and sharp, although overly bright with the out of box settings. Currently set brightness 10 and contrast 78. i am using the DVI input although that is the one cable not included. I would have given this a 5 out of 5 except for one thing. I cannot figure out how to register this for the warranty! Dell website requires a 7 digit service tag number and then goes on to say that most monitors do not have a service tag number and this is one that does not! I have an account with Dell but it only wants to access products already purchased.

I have owned one of these monitors for about 10 months. When I ordered it, it arrived on time and in good condition as promised. It was also very simple to set up. Simply pop the stand into the back of the monitor, plug it into the wall and computer, and start using it. This monitor comes with a stand that allows you to rotate the monitor and adjust its angle. Generally, this is not possible without buying a special VESA mount. It allows you to rotate the display 90 degrees to portrait position (where landscape position is the default position). This positioning makes editing documents and reading websites easy and enjoyable. It perfectly mimics the dimensions of an A4 piece of paper plus room for toolbars and the computer interface. This makes it perfect for editing documents, reading websites, writing reviews, and the like. This monitor has a 1920*1080 screen resolution. This gives the screen enough real estate to handle multiple applications spread across the screen at once. This means that there would be enough room to put a website on the left half and a word processor on the right half, and still be able to read and work with everything easily. This can come in handy when working on projects for school or documents in the office. The text and images on this display are always sharp. It is easy to read small text and notice fine details because of the quality of the display. The colors are also very vibrant. This makes this monitor great for both productivity and gaming. You can also use multiple quantities of this monitor for gaming. The borders on all sides are very slim, which makes this monitor work well with bezel graphics. This means that you can play a game that spans across multiple monitors. Overall, I would recommend this monitor to anyone who needs a moderately sized monitor for productivity and gaming.
