I needed a monitor to use vertically for viewing spreadsheets. If you have looked for a monitor to use vertically you know how hard it can be to find one that is wide enough (when vertical) to see see a whole spreadsheet or Word document. Most monitors today are excellent as widescreen when horizontal but are too narrow to use otherwise. This Dell monitor is excellent. When horizontal it has a viewing area that is 10 1/2 high. The stand allows you to move the monitor up and down, tilt in and out, and rotate the screen vertical. Excellent monitor, excellent price. UPDATE!! I just purchased a second one of these monitors because the first one worked out so well. I also realized that I forgot to give the viewable screen dimensions. The viewable area is 18 3/4 wide, 10 1/2 tall, and 21 1/2 on the diagonal.

This monitor sits high on its pedestal so it can be swiveled to use in a long view instead of a wide view. I love this feature and I am using as a second monitor so I can perform work on the other monitor screen. It is absolutely the best buy I have made in monitors in many years. When my main monitor goes to sleep, so does the Dell monitor which saves energy.

I ordered two of these monitors and they look great. I have three issues with them, however: 1. No DVI cables included. They include a USB cable, a DisplayLink cable, and a VGA cable, but no DVI. I intended to use them over DVI, so I had to go buy separate cables. 2. The USB hub ports are covered by the cable management shield and are not easily accessible. There is a single USB port on the rear that can be used with the cable guard in place, but it isnt nearly as convenient as the side-mounted USB ports on my 24 Dell monitors. 3. The packaging was terribly difficult to open. I was actually concerned I might damage the monitor trying to get it out of the box. Opening the second one, I thought it would be easier after learning from the first, but it was still just as hard. I like to keep monitor and PC case boxes in case I need to move, but these were damaged beyond use trying to get the monitors out.

With all of the monitors out there today, its hard to tell the good from the bad without performing extensive research. This research needs to be combined with a bit of luck as it would be cost prohibitive for every site to cover the full product line from multiple manufacturers. The monitor that was replaced by the Dell P2014H was a 23 LG with an IPS panel. My prior effort to use a HP w2071d to achieve the desired resolution for a budget computer system resulted in excessive visual fatigue that would be exacerbated when dark images would appear. The backlighting on that 20 inch monitor was abysmal. My priorities for the display were: 1.) IPS panel 2.) 1600x900 resolution 3.) Digital input The Dell P2014H appeared to be the best of breed based on the aforementioned criteria. The overall image quality and performance is absolutely fantastic, especially at the price point that Amazon sells it for. On top of a solid image with fairly balanced backlighting (tad bit lighter in the lower right-hand corner, but not distracting or outside of expectations in this range), you get additional features that come in handy: 1.) Integrated USB hub: Using an AmazonBasics keyboard, the integrated USB cord was a bit too short for the placement of the mid-tower. Running the keyboard through the integrated hub resolved this issue, and made it easier to connect additional peripherals. 2.) Rotating display: While it would be nice to have an accelerometer or gyroscope to allow the monitor to auto-trigger the shift from portrait to landscape format, two clicks of the mouse and a quick 90 degree rotation of the monitor completely changes the dynamic of viewing websites, reading long documents, and even developing websites. The text is crisp and the mechanics of rotating the monitor results in a smooth and effortless adjustment. 3.) Adjustable height. The Dell engineers have built a solid and user-friendly stand that permits modification on the fly. Monitors that cost more than the P2014H are normally bound to a fixed stand and may result in discomfort of the neck during extended use. Be sure to download the latest utilities and drivers from Dells site to further optimize the image quality and power consumption of this display.

As a programmer, Ive been using a combination of a 30 monitor and a 20 monitor for years. This combination works great because the 1600 pixel height of the 30 monitor matches up perfectly with the 1600 pixel width of the 20 monitors. Recently, I decided to setup a similar setup at my shop - and purchased a

I bought two monitors and was concerned about the quality since it was such a good deal, but I have been pleasantly surprised. The only thing is between the two monitors, the coloring is off by a little. I just adjusted the coloring a bit, its not perfect but it will do! Overall, I would recommend it!

I like the portrait and landscape orientation possible. And the stand. It can be adjusted quite high up if desired and easily. Its spring loaded so you just slide it up or down to your desired height. The colors are very good. This is replacing an HP 23xi which has great color, but burned out after 2 years. I hope this one lasts longer. Using it for photo editing and general purpose things. Mine came with 4 cords: HDMI, VGA, DVI, Power cord. Nice. Im currently using it with the DVI connector and alls well.

I bought these after good experiences with the monitors I use at work (a newer version of them). They work great for the home use as well. The display quality is great with great color and brightness. I shopped around and look at a dozen monitors in this price range and can honestly say the build quality is among the best on these for the price. I highly recommend them!
