The primary reason I bought this product was because I wanted a secondary monitor to compliment my laptop workspace and to increase my productivity due to limited desk space. I have a variety of uses for the vertical monitor. Among which programming, writing papers, and reading articles online. If you’re looking for a monitor that can change between horizontal and vertical views then you’re looking in the right place. Design & Construction Ive found the design of the monitor and the stand itself to be extremely well built. The construction and material quality are simply exquisite. The rotatable mount is good but leaves something to be desired. While the monitor will seamlessly rotate, it does take some effort and it only rotates towards one side. Of course, this is easily solved by mounting the monitor differently but that goes against the entire point of having a swivel mount. Moving the monitor vertically is also very smooth, however, Ive found that rotating the monitor base is more difficult than I think it should be. While the sheer weight of the monitor and stand do a good job of keeping the unit in place, the lack of rubber feet makes the stand slide around when youre wanting to do any sort of rotation. Pros • Lovely aluminum feel seemingly rivaled only by Apples • Construction feels solid, as if it will last for many years • Smooth action when moving the monitor vertically Cons • Weight of the product makes it harder to turn on its base • Lack of rubber feet make adjustments an extra unnecessary hassle Monitor The monitor itself is gorgeous. The colors, albeit less flattering than those of a higher resolution monitor, are simply excellent. The usage of IPS technology in the panel makes everything easier to read without me having to turn the screen if I need to show something off. However, I’ve noticed that, without scaling the monitor to more than 100%, text is hard to read at times. It’s dependant on the type and coloring of the font. It seems to appear more on pages where the letters are more the same shade as the background or when there’s a large quantity of text on screen. However, take this with a grain of salt since I’ve primarily been using a single laptop screen for the last few months. I can’t comment on the gaming side of things but I can offer clarity from past experience. The Grey To Grey (GTG) response time of 8ms isn’t anything to be worried about if you’re doing anything other than high-intensity or quick-reaction gaming. However, if you are looking for a high-intensity gaming monitor, I suggest you look elsewhere since any time above 5ms will typically harm your experience. Pros • The usage of IPS in the monitor is well worth the price • The sheer amount of more screen-space you get is astounding Cons • Hard to read text, depending on the size and color of the font and the background coloring. • 8ms response time, only if you’re looking for a high-speed gaming monitor As a whole, I’m happy with my experience. I rate this product as a 4 out of 5 stars. The use of IPS technology, exquisite feeling from the material and design, the size and increased workspace is a welcome change. Unfortunately, due to the weight, lack of footpads, and hard to read text I must remove a star. Additionally, during shipment, a corner of the stand was slightly cracked from being dropped or crushed. Don’t be alarmed because the packaging itself is more than sufficient to protect your brand new monitor. A large monitor, an increased workspace, and a lovely addition to your desk make this a must-buy.

I bought this monitor to use in portrait mode and I was extremely pleased to find that its picture quality in portrait mode is exactly the same as in landscape mode, which is uncommon. The P2414H has one of the narrowest bezels available in a 24 which also lended itself well to my application. It has a business-class non-reflective screen surface which I prefer. Startup sync is nearly instantaneous via DisplayPort. Overall image quality is quite good. I liked that the OSD can be rotated to portrait mode, although it doesnt work automatically via a rotation sensor, that would have been a nice plus. Im using the integrated USB hub for mouse and keyboard and it works fine. Included cables comprise a USB host-to-target for the built-in USB hub, a DisplayPort, and an analog VGA. A snap-on plastic cover is also included which masks the cable connections on the back of the monitor which helps cosmetically if people can see the back. I would give this unit 5 stars except for some reason Dell failed to include sRGB compliance in the image presets. I notice the P2414H is Windows Logod, and I thought that sRGB was required for Windows logo. sRGB in presets is a quick way to set up 6500K color temperature and 2.2 gamma, so in situations where I cant use a real color calibrator I like to have sRGB preset so I dont have to fiddle with color and contrast settings. Dell supplies an ICM profile with their monitor driver download, but it has only one profile for P2414H D6500 rather than multiple profiles for the different color presets available via the OSD, and its unclear exactly what settings the ICM profile corresponds to, so its essentially useless. Note that the monitor has internal sound, but no speakers unless you purchase the optional soundbar. I only mention this because plugging in the P2414H will automatically set it as your primary sound device and you wont hear anything since there are no speakers. My sound going away puzzled me for a moment until I noticed the monitor had enumerated and audio device.

Before I bought it, I read the reviews. But I cannot confirm the complaint about panel quality. Perhaps that observed phenomenon is related to the typical property of an IPS display. It has a high contrast (horizontal and vertical) except the corners. But if your sitting very close to the display then you may see the fading on the corners. Well Ive bought several IPS monitors from DELL in the past and I got never disappointed. So it was this time. - Very fast delivery! - Zero Pixel failure. - The vivid colors are stable over a wide viewing range. - Bright display with good contrast and an even light distribution. - Runs very cool. Only one thing is missing for calling it perfect: The gamma value cannot be manipulated in the setup of the monitor. It has to be done in the display settings of the attached computer. Personally I think it is the monitor with the best value. Sure, I recommend it!

At first I bought this monitor just as a temporary monitor until I buy a legit, bigger monitor because I was planning on using dual monitors and use this one as a sub monitor since it can pivot and rotate 180. A month after I got this DELL monitor I bought BENQ gaming monitor. As I planned, I started using BENQ as a main and this one as a sub (rotated). However, while I was playing bunch of 3D steam games, (resident evil 6, witcher 3 etc) I realized that this DELL monitor was the real bad-ass. Of course BENQs bigger, but the color is just not as good as that of DELLs. Ive been using the standard stock setting for my DELL monitor and the clearness, sharpness and color temperature blah blah (I dont know much about this color related jargon so Imma just skip) are JUST SOOOOOOOO Amazing and WAAAAAy better. I have tried every single options for the BenQ monitor (Hue Temp Contrast Saturation bla bla whateva) but It never had same amazing feeling as Dells heavenly screen. I dont even know how to put this but its like watching DELLs monitor is like looking at a nicely cut chocolate squares while watching other monitors are like watching the same thing but all melted and squashed.. I mean this monitor is not even ULTRA SHARP model yet it has the best screen quality and color I have ever experienced. Bottom line, I ended up using this as a main monitor and the bigger gaming monitor as a sub monitor on the side.. cause I would rather play games with smaller screen with better quality than bigger, less fine quality. So I guess that pretty much explains how freakin awesome this monitor is. It was on sale and I got this for $159, and I think this monitor worth way more than that. I would even pay $300 for this monitor if I break mine and have to buy again (and if the price went up). Dont hesitate and just buy this. U WONT REGRET!

In the past Ive owned a lot of Dell computers and monitors, but since I got burnt on the last 3 Dell computers Ive quit buying Dell computers, but my Dell monitors are still serving me well, so I went for another one. I had 2 old Dell monitors that I quit using on my computers awhile back and started using them as part of my security system, but the oldest one ( 6 years old, 20 IPS panel 16:10) went out on me, so I went to find a replacement. I wanted the same as I had before, but I couldnt find anything in a 16:10 unless I paid 2-3 times the price of a 16:9 or went up to a 24, which I didnt want to do. Well I bought this monitor and its appears to be a good one, because it doesnt have any stuck pixels, it runs cooler than the old one (LED backlight), it was cheaper than the old one (this one cost $170, the old one cost $450 6 yrs ago) and its 22 instead of a 20. The step backward is the 16:9, because this 22 is the same height as my 20, just 1 1/2 longer and this stretches everything out and now all the images on my security cameras look squashed and the people all look fat. Bottom line is: I think this is a great value in a monitor and I can live with the 16:9.

I got this to replace a different monitor in a dual-screen setup, and to match the other Dell Pro 24 monitor I already have. I thought the one from two years ago was impressive, but this one is even nicer. I especially like the changes made to the cabling and other appearance from the rear of the monitor. The valence panel makes a big difference, as well as moving the USB port(s). At first, I was not sure if I liked that Dell took away the power feed and mounts for a speaker bar, but it is something else that gives the monitor a nicer look. The bezel surround is about the same width as the older one, which also surprised me. These are the type of monitors that are used for multiples quite often, and the bezel is the same width all around, but I would have figured that Dell would reduce this for those of us that use multiples. Performance and overall look of the screen is outstanding. The pixels are tight and accurate, and the monitor handles movement very well. The addition of the Display Port in lieu of HDMI is highly appropriate for this type of monitor, given its intended use. Im SO GLAD to finally ditch at least one of my DVI-D cablings in favor of the Display Port. Regardless, its good to see the VGA and DVI-D interfaces are still there if needed. My only real want or suggestion for the P2414H would be nice to have an external HDMI port available (or mini-DP at the least) for a portable device. My wireless phone will port to HDMI, and it would be a great simple solution rather than keeping an HDMI --> DVI-D adapter plugged into the DVI-D port. Maybe thats incorporated into a newer version already, but I was able to keep costs down with this particular model. .

Ive had the monitor for about 2 months now. Picture quality is very good and makes this monitor a bargain. The settings are intuitive and easy to use. The only minor downside is there is not HDMI, but the picture quality is still excellent and crispy. If the monitor still works 2 years from now I will give it 5 stars.

I have several of these Dell ultra sharp IPS monitors and I love them. I especially love the fact that it has an eight way mount and is height adjustable. Monitor has great viewing angles and excellent color reproduction. The monitor is not quite calibrated for professional photos, however Im not doing professional print work so the exact color profiles are irrelevant to me. Probably one of the better values in monitors.

+ Colors are absolutely brilliant, especially once calibrated + Minimal backlight bleed on my unit, less than most IPS monitors in this price range + I MUCH prefer glossy panels to matte, and Im delighted to find that the matte finish on this doesnt detract from image quality + No inverse ghosting + Very very low input lag... more than fast enough for gaming + Cost when I bought it, $210 is a steal + Stand is fully adjustable... height, swivel & tilt + VESA mountable + DisplayPort, DVI, VGA connections + Comes with DisplayPort & VGA cables + Power on indicator LED can be turned off + Dark scenes are dark (black looks black not gray) + 1920x1080 resolution is the sweet spot for gaming -/+ IPS glow is present (like on all IPS monitors), but unintrusive - No HDMI port Ive used this for a variety of games including FPS. While fast motion/framerate handling cant compare to the 120Hz+ TN monitors out there, I have no complaints, and IMO the tradeoff in speed is worth it for the amazing image quality you get with an IPS panel. If you need a 120Hz panel youre not looking at IPS anyway. If youre looking for a beautiful, affordable IPS monitor that behaves admirably when gaming, look no further. This is the one.

This is a great monitor for office use and watching videos. The colors are bold, and the IPS panel is a great improvement from standard LCDs. The height adjustment is particularly useful. All adjustments feel solid and the monitor construction is attractive and high quality. There are no dead pixels or crosshatching. Includes DisplayPort and VGA cables. Includes USB cable for the two port USB 3.0 hub on the monitor. If you need a DVI cable or a miniDisplayPort to DisplayPort cable, buy it separately.
