This is a great antenna. I am buying this for my Baofeng. I have the normal unit as well, but I had to put in an adapter to allow it connect. If you wear a radio chest harness, you can keep the antenna away from your nose, which is a big plus! The only bad thing is people frequently ask: is your antenna BROKEN!? OMG! Look at that BROKEN antenna. At which point you will sigh, shake your head and calmly explain that your antenna isnt broken, but designed to function this way.

This is my second SuperFlex Diamond antenna. They both work great and if you need a flexible antenna I strongly recommend this one. I used my first one, SRJF40CA, on my FT60 for foot patrol at an airshow event that our ARES group supported and it was perfect for my chest radio harness. I bought this one for my AT878, but poor planning on my part didnt get to me in time for the airshow this year. I will use it next year. Again great antenna.

I wouldnt really call it flexible as much as bendable. To me flexible means springy. This antenna is like a microphone gooseneck. You bend it to a different shape and it stays there, sort of. It doesnt hold its position well enough though. If you move the radio gently the antenna loses its position and droops. Not all that practical. However I got it to use with a HT on the belt so that this could slide under my coat and move with me, yet still give me extra gain over the stock antenna. For that it works pretty well. The only disadvantage is the base coil which is rigid and 3 inches long, so dont bend too much or you can break it off the radio. As to gain, it certainly receives and transmits better than the stock rubber duck that comes on HTs. So performance is a definite improvement. You will have to decide if these features fit your need. For some it will and for others not. If it were a bit stiffer (held position better) it would have been a 4 star rating to me.

Antenna works well but its very pliable, near impossible to keep it straight or in any given position

Exactly what I was looking for on my plate carrier setup. I put the uv-5r radio in a molle pouch and routed the antenna up to and through my shoulder strap.

Quite flexible as desired ; antenna will always be bent for my use
