I cant say it loud enough - this is a TON OF EMBROIDERY FLOSS!!!!! Yes, this seems to be genuine DMC six strand embroidery floss, theres a DMC stamp on it. This color 321 a.k.a. Christmas Red is DMCs most popular standard red. I recently decided to try purchasing basic colors in bulk because I got tired of the leftover bits from each regular skien that werent long enough to use in my next project. I ordered 100g cones of black and white, but bought this 500g cone of red because of the incredibly low price of $16.09. Maybe it was on sale at the time but this 500g red cone was cheaper than the going price for 100g cones. Win, win! Of course having never purchased embroidery floss in bulk before, I had no idea what 500g meant - ITS A LOT!!! I will never ever have to purchase red floss again in my life, no kidding. The picture certainly doesnt give you any idea how big it is. Its big, but not so huge that storage will be a problem. Two 500g cones fit into a womens athletic shoe box, with little room for anything else in the box. Overall, this is a great value for the price. Its more red floss than I need or want, but not so much that storage will be a problem. This is 2,270 yards of floss. Each regular skien is 8.7 yards, which means this is the equivalent of 261 skiens.

If you want quality and quantity this is the way to buy DMC thread. It is the same DMC as smaller skeins but makes sense to buy it in cones for large cross stitch projects ordering was simple and delivery was on time with no problems.

I use embroidery floss to make cotton rope baskets, and any decent sized basket requires way more floss than one of those little skeins provide. This is a nice bright white color, not a cream or a natural. I wish that this six ply stuff would stick together a little bit better, though. It can take a few tries to thread even a darning needle because one or two strands will sneak themselves outside of the eye. But once its threaded and tied, this is pretty good stuff for crafts.

Be aware that this is 1.3 MILES of DMC 310. Why they list it by the weight, we will never know. It would be more helpful if they would list it by the yardage/meters. It is not the smaller cone. This is the one that is as big as your head. I have already told my adult children that Im leaving it in my will to them. So, if you need more DMC 310 that you will probably use in your lifetime, this is the one you want to order. Do not order this if you have underlying health conditions that make you easily startled by enormous cones of floss. I have affectionately nicknamed mine the Cone of DOOM!

This is a cross stitchers dream! Almost all of my patterns have black (310) in them and I run out all the time. When I saw this it was like wow, really over 2000 yards of floss?! Awesome!! I got it in the mail and when I opened it I was thrilled! This will save me money and time from running back and forth to the store when I run out. I will be buying this again when I start running low, which thanks to over 2000 yards of floss will be awhile!!
