> 24 hourI wanted to get into welding as cheap as possible to fix some odds and ends around my lake property. I looked at all of the cheaper offshore brands and many had compelling features at great prices. When reading reviews in depth their lens optics were mediocre to poor. More importantly various reports indicated they would flash you. This was something I critically wanted to avoid. This helmet is great optics wise and functionality wise. The settings work well and after having used it for approximately 6 hours (mostly a single day) I didnt have a since instance where I was looking at the sun. Comfort wise, I could see why you wouldnt want to wear this helmet all day everyday, but I dont think thats the target audience and its not what I needed. For my purposes it works extremely well. I can see clearly, can adjust settings easily and I can very much trust this to protect my eyes. This is a solid buy to go with otherwise cheap welding gear that gets my jobs done.

> 24 hourI bought this after my cheap $40 helmet started failing and wouldnt darken consistently and my eyes would hurt after welding with it. The esab is so much better in every way. It fits much better controls are better and I can see my weld puddle much clearer. It helps me make better welds now I can actually see whats going on. Dont waste the money on the cheap ones its not worth risking damaging your eyes.

> 24 hourI use this and a new version Lincoln Viking 3350. The Viking is a tiny bit clearer in some situations, but I usually use this hood anyway because I like how it fits me. This one is $200 less than the Lincoln. If cost is an issue, get this. If you need the best and can spend more, the Lincoln or the Esab a60 are a little bit better. If you can spend even more, the Optrel is also great. Id get an a60 if I were to buy again and wanted the best vision and comfort, but your eyes and head are different than mine, so try them on if you can.
