> 3 dayThis PSU I bought for my clients gaming computer for whom I built. While we was doing work, the computer started to have black smoke come out from the PSU in the back. He was thankfully able to unplug the machine before any more damage could occur, I was able to swap his PSU with an existing model I own after he contacted me and told me the situation. I ran his old PSU on a test bench and smoke poured out smelling toxic. I personally had always bought EVGA power supplies but they have lost a costumer as this should have never occurred. It’s been a year and his other PSU has never faltered. Looking at other consumer reviews and forums this has occurred to other people. So if I were you buy an alternative model or different brand.

> 3 dayThe power supply works fine, and its smaller and lighter than others, but my problem is with the fan, it emits an irritating whine. Its not extremely loud, but I had invested time and effort into making an almost silent PC, with quality case and cpu fans. While working at night though I was still hearing a continuous high pitched noise. I checked all the fans again, they were all fine, until I concluded it was the power supply. I replaced the evga power supply with a bronze Asus and now the computer is dead silent as it should be...

> 3 dayI used this PSU to build a quiet and durable system, and the 550 W size was more than needed, according to on-line power consumption calculators. However, it developed a noticeable bearing whine after only 12 hours of use. The technical support at EVGA was somewhat helpful, advising me that since I bought the unit through Amazon and could still return it, I should do so. New Corsair PSU has been perfectly quiet for 200 hours. QC at EVGA may be an issue.
