I wear the Evoc Hydration Hip Pack when I’m mountain biking in New York. It fits so much better than a traditional backpack and I can carry essential tools, a few power bars, my phone and water. A backpack will still be needed sometimes but I’m finding that going minimalist has its merits. There are also two outside pockets to hold drink bottles on longer rides. The pockets secure the bottles with no worries of them falling out. Evoc incorporated an innovative feature that temporarily loosens or tightens the waist on climbs and descents. I can also clip a taillight to the back loop when I’m night riding. After using this pack for a couple of months I can attest that the construction is virtually bulletproof. It’s so creatively designed that I’m constantly finding different ways of using this pack. I would buy this again in a heartbeat. It is that good!

Perfect pack. Also way better than a backpack because it lets your back breathe. Pair this with a water bottle and you got enough water for a good 2-3 hour ride. I usually put three cliff bloks in here, a spare tube, tool kit, two tire levers and a tire repair kit. The side pockets are good for keys and a wallet. I can also fit my phone there too. I think its the perfect pack to carry. A bit on the expensive side, but youre buying quality that well see with abuse with how it fares. So far my favorite pack to ride with. Also has two extra spaces for two more water bottles to add even more water.

I bought this pack 3 years ago and it has become my go-to bag for shorter hikes. With both the water bladder and water bottle pockets, I can change up configurations. If I want to have room for a lunch/snack or lightweight jacket, I toss water bottles in the pockets and dont use the reservoir. The bottle holders are just deep enough that the pull cord snugs up well around a standard bike water bottle (you wont fit wider bottles). If its a really hot day, I can use both the reservoir and bottle pockets. I can fit my necessities...sunglasses, small bottle of sunscreen, some snacks, keys and ID/credit cards, lip balm, and most importantly, my phone and inhaler. When I bought it, the front pocket fit the phone I had at the time. Its a tight fit now with a larger phone. The velcro plus buckle strap is very secure. Im a plus size person, and wear it at pretty much the full extent of the straps (check the sizing if youre a larger waist), but its still secure...and provides light lumbar support. I do most of my sweating along my upper back, so was struggling with backpack style hydration packs, plus a lot of those dont have good hip support, adding weight on my shoulders. Moving everything to my hips is much more comfortable for me, and I feel more balanced when I need to lean down or scrabble up a slope. After 3 years of frequent use, it shows no signs of damage/wear other than needing to replace the water tube (they all need regular cleaning/replacement). My only cons on this pack are the magnetic tube holder...its a weak magnet and I knocked the tube off constantly just brushing against it. I swapped it with a clip holder. I also wish the mouthpiece had a cover on it to keep dirt out. This seems like an uncommon feature for some reason. Lastly, the front pocket zipper only zips up the sides, then a flap across the top uses velcro. This always feels a little insecure. Id prefer a zipper all the way around. None of these are dealbreakers, but keep it from a full 5-star rating (Id say its more of a 4.5...being my most-used hydration pack really says a lot).

After a couple rides on this pack I am really impressed. The double belt is super comfortable, it holds plenty of water for my average rides and storage for the basic tools is great. Theres room for my wallet and a couple small snacks, but not enough to stash extra clothing or gear, so I still need a backpack for those all-day epics.

In search of a mountain bike fanny pack I purchased both this Evoc Hip Pack Pro and Osprey Savu 5. Evoc Hip Pack Pro has more storage volume than Osprey Savu 5. Osprey has key ring clip in main compartment, Evoc puts clip in more accessible side zipper pocket(s). Evoc waist belt is more comfortable and can be adjusted for some elastic tension. Bottle holders of Osprey are much easier to reinsert bottles while riding. Evoc makes me empty bottle in handlebar feed bag(s) then rotate full ones from pack. Airflow to back is slightly better with Evoc. Osprey has better cell phone storage, but the Osprey pocket has no padding. Evoc has no dedicated cell phone pocket large enough for current phones. Evoc is my choice, based mostly on larger size and more compartments. I dont see myself ever using the Evoc bladder as it cuts down storage volume and two bottles is enough.

As a mountain biker, this is just perfect for small to mid-sized rides. Quality work - sturdy zippers and stitching. My somewhat large phone fits in one side pocket, snacks in the other, plenty of room in the back for keys, wallet, a clothing layer and more. Comfortable waist band and design helps air flow. Havent tried to put water bottles in it, but I think they would hold through some aggressive riding.
