This works to protect the reader as advertised. The outer elastic band can be used to keep it closed, while the inner elastic band can be used to keep the read attached to your hand (I dont use it that way). The sensor does pickup on the lid and turns the screen off when its closed.

Its a good and solid case. It does add some bulk, but I do feel my Kobo is well protected because of that. I like the little elastic band on the inside that I can use to hold it more easily.

This case is great value for the amount it costs. Unfortunately, I cant say that I am particularly satisfied with the purchase. The device fits well inside the case, and the finish on the case is nice to hold. The biggest issue I have with this case is that the frame is too thick...when its time to turn the page, I have to think about repositioning my thumb at just the proper angle to reach the screen. I am used to just slightly moving my thumb or finger to move to the next page. I acknowledge this is a minor pet-peeve, but it bothers me to the point that I will probably be purchasing a new case in the not too distant future.

I hope Im not asking for too much, the upper corners of the case are not balance, one is higher than the others... stars deducted. Other than this, everything seems fine.

Nice leather like feel (doesnt look/feel too plastic). Good hand band grip. Tight band to close it. Kobo fits snuggly. 1 star less because the 4 corners of the Kobo are exposed

The Kobo by itself was just another slate tablet to hold and read from. Now I feel like Im reading a book. A premium bound book. This is comfortable to hold for me. With my arthritis, I needed something to make it easier for me to hold, and this is it in every way. Everyone is different, and not everyone is wanting to hold a book the same way, so your mileage may vary, but for me, it is quite comfortable. Its a bonus that it puts the device to sleep when I close the cover and wakes on open. Ive grown accustom to just using the power button. However, with the power button on the bottom, it is always inconvenient for me to use. This gives me one less thing to worry about.

It fits snuggly and was just what I wanted

After literally running out of books to read during lockdown, I finally “saw the light” and invested in an ebook reader for convenience. The Kobo Clara is just right for me but the only case offered on the Kobo site I found overpriced and not useful, so I kept looking for one to protect it from damage. Found this one here and I love love love it! It fits the Clara perfectly, as it should- you unhook a velcro flap on the inner side, insert the e-reader then tuck the flap back underneath it- done. It’s not going anywhere. (If you do need to remove it I figured out you can insert a credit card behind the reader to separate the velcro strip - voila). The case is faced in an imitation black leather that has a nice grippy texture and feels durable. Inside it’s a silver-grey microfiber that compliments the black nicely. I never considered how one holds an e-reader for comfort but on this there is an elastic strap inset so when you fold the cover back you can slide your hand into the strap and easily grasp it, while using your thumb to tap the screen and turn pages, all one-handed. Perfect for reading in bed. Not only that but there is another elastic strap connected to the back cover so you can securely fasten it shut when you toss it into your bag. I found that this strap also works to hold the cover in place when folded over while reading, just a really well thought out design overall. The last feature I’ll mention is the magnetic latch- it helps keep the case closed with a satisfying SNAP and also activates the sleep function of the Clara- sleeps when closed, awake when opened. I found this such a perfect case for my Clara, and such a bargain I bought another one just to have a backup, in case they stop making it.
