> 3 dayDecided to get back into vinyl. I had sold off my records and turntable years ago. Read great things about the RT85, and it has not disappointed. Got it in piano black and with the clearish acrylic platter it looks beautiful- kind of a retro-futuristic piece. It arrived packed beautifully. Very easy to set up and balance the tonearm. I initially tried it with the phono stage on my Yamaha Aventage AVR, but I am now trialing a couple of high-value phono pre-amps. The sound is great! Much better than I remember with my old equipment. I am starting to rebuild a record collection. Highly recommend this turntable.

> 3 dayMy last turntable was a Rega P3, I spent around 1200.00 that included the Ortofon Blue. This is like less than half and sounds just as good. One of the biggest selling points was the bayonet style cartridge. My Rega didnt have that and that was the problem the wires got messed up. Again sound is great, quality is good. I purchased another Belt just in case for 20 bucks and got a weight stabilizer.

> 3 dayMy rating does not reflect performance of the turntable… I have to give it time to say anything but I tried one of those LPs with graphic wrap which was impossible to play on my old turntable due to multiple skips, RT85 had no problem tracking it. The bass seems boosted if like that kind of thing. My first order, no sound was coming from the right speaker…. I checked the setup many times. Replacement was good… but the dust cover has a long crack running from center to almost the edge. That is 2 out of 2 defective items…. To be fair the cracked dust cover could happen by amazon shipping. Still, reflection of inadequate quality control and packaging for a great turntable.

> 3 dayI decided on this turntable to replace my aging 1970s full automatic Dual 1241 running on 1980s Sony STR-2800. I wanted a more up to date turntable. But it just didn’t work out for me. Here are my feedbacks: Good: Item arrived in 2 days (one day late than estimated) Packaging was well done. Bad Finish and built shows manufacturing errors if you pay close attention. Piano black is too plastic looking. It doesn’t have the real piano finish IMO. Cover had some glue like marks which would be hard to see once installed (see the photo) Ugly: Arm tone adjustment even if you read the instructions 10 times don’t work. Not possible to place have 180 degrees flat level as instructed. Most importantly, I have MAJOR issue I didn’t have with my old Dual. I can walk, even lightly, without turntable skipping. It has ZERO insulation from floor. No matter what I dis with anti skating or tone army weight issue did not go away. To me this turntable is useless. Those who enjoyed it however, I salut you. I would definitely avoid this brand. It seems as it is mostly hype. I am going to try a cheaper model made by Sony.

> 3 dayReplacing a Rega Planar 1 that Ive had since around 2011 or 12. The Rega has been good, but has some annoying quirks that prompted me to look for a potential upgrade: weak motor, table spins backwards half the time on start up. Cue lever doesnt work anymore, same with he ant-skate, etc. This blows the Rega away in every regard excepting for the tonearm. However, with the lesser cartridge that came stock on the Rega, the Regas superior tonearm wasnt used to its best advantage and so may be considered irrelevant? The superior cartridge on the Fluance results in audible improvements across the spectrum: wider soundstage, increased depth, significantly more detail, etc. I was sceptical that Id hear much of an improvement, if any, but was I ever wrong! The acrylic platter (no more static from the mat), ability to adjust counter weight and anti-skate (Rega has only one default counter weight setting), adjustable feet for balancing, and a beautiful look makes for an amazing buy. I couldnt be more happy with the Fluance. Hopefully my review will be helpful to others that may be on the fence between this and the Rega Planar 1. Youll get a lot of value with the Fluance and clearly better sound as well.

> 3 dayI am a conductor, no not one of those big-name maestros who occupy podiums in front of the finest musical ensembles I am a conductor of music, one who more than 50 years has had the privilege and expereince waving arms or baton in front of singers, orchestras, showbands, rock bands, jazz groups, soloists, childrens choirs, heck even trained hogs! I KNOW what live music sounds like. And I confess, I have been obsessed with audio stuff since I could say Heathkit and Dynaco. So what in the name of melody, harmony and rhythm does any of that have to do with this review of the Fluance RT85 turntable? This marvelous machine also knows music. Once you follow the set-up instructions , which are easy to follow IF you follow them, The RT85 sits elegantly and unobtrusively making music; music as it is intended. Sure you purist audioholics out there can spend hours hooking up the poor thing up to an endless chain of analytical devices testing wow, flutter, rumble, anti-skating, (Hailing form Minnesota, I have nothing against skating) and other four-syllable calibrations. But if you truly want to savor your music, be it Bach, Beatles, Coldplay or Coltrane, trust this music man. When that vinyl sphere centers on the RT85s eye-catching and perfectly-balanced acrylic platter, and the nude diamond of the high-quality Ortofon Blue cartridge finds its groove, get ready to hear and feel MUSIC! The superb craftmanship and outward beauty of the turntable combined with its dead-silent operation and dead-on speed accuracy make the RT85 the perfect choice and a true value for anyone who just wants to enjoy music. In Summation, WOW! ( there is no flutter), Thank You Fluance!
