> 3 daySimple to replace. Old one started leaking. Much cheaper than replacing pump and filter.

> 3 dayThis is going to break. But this is also one of the best and quietest canister filters around. Deal with it. Be thankful fluval sells parts.

> 3 dayFluval is Id say the best canister filter you can get. Silent, strong and for the most part trouble free. However nothing is made to last forever. Ive been using it 6 years and Ive had to replace the propeller and the door that encases it. Get an extra because you want to have a backup. This valve...this is one of the main things you must have a backup because this you do not want to leak. Its a vulnerable point. Mine after 6 years is getting very difficult to line up when closing after a filter cleanings. I know one time soon the red lever will snap. I just ordered the backup before that happens. Do yourself a favor and order backups of theses parts ahead of time so you can change it out immediately. You dont want to have to wait for this part to come after it breaks or leaks.

> 3 dayI love the actual filter, I hate this cheap easy to break valve. I’ve bought 5 filters, two 206 and three 406, currently only using the 406’s and just had to buy two of these because I broke my last one of two and needed a spare. So I’ve broke 3 total and have only been running them for one year at the most as of May 2019. They break when you are trying to reinstall after a clean. Sometimes it helps to open the filter which lets a little water ( or a crap ton if not paying attn) in or when removing to push the lever down so that water runs in and releases some air pressure.

> 3 dayOn mine the body was leaking. Replacement came with a broken handle in the box. Shipping box was fine. I needed the part immediately so I took the handle from the original and placed it on the replacement. Not a happy camper. And what happened to prime two day shipping.

> 3 dayAfter a few years my 406 canister developed a leak right at the Aquastop valve, specifically at the flow control lever. I lost probably 5 gallons of water into my cabinet and carpet overnight before I discovered that the valve was leaking. Oddly, the valve only leaked when the flow lever was set to anything more than about 75% -- so I reduced the flow until I could get a replacement and the leak disappeared in the interim. The locking mechanism and flow control mechanism on the replacement feels tight. So far its working as expected and hasnt developed any leaks, but Im only a week into use. Its unfortunate that this valve seems to be a relatively common failure point for the Fluval canisters (as well as the impeller assembly). The replacement went in right in the place of the original, but took a bit of wiggling and fussing to get it to seat correctly the first time. One difference between the original and the replacement is the red compression nuts. My original were hex-shaped and could be (if you really wanted) gripped and tightened with a wrench. The replacement is knurled. Presumably this stops people from over tightening and snapping them.
