> 24 hourThis works well, I dont have to find a lamp or toaster to find out if an outlet is getting power. I have another that is just two probes but you have to get them in correctly, mess around for a bit. This thing you just plug in and voila! (or not). I am a novice and a bit afraid of electricity. I can install fixtures, repair lamps, hookup outlets and switches, but nothing more complicated than that. I believe this is essential for homeowners. I recommend.

> 24 hourFirst of all, it works. There are however two problems, one worse than the other: 1) The end of the plug was blunt, not tapered. Consequently it did could not be pushed into the new (probably stiffer) outlets I was trying to test. It would push into older outlets that had been loosened up a bit through use, but there was no reason to test older outlets. To get this to work, I had to put an extension cord into the outlet to be tested, then put the meter into the well-used extension cord. Ill probably taper the plug later with a file. 2) The yellow/white coding on the label is difficult to read. As someone mentioned earlier, thats easy to fix with a marker, but is a design flaw that could easily be corrected by the manufacturer. Except for those two problems, it worked fine. I didnt have any problem with bleed-through on the lights, and so the indicator was easy to read.

> 24 hourThis one was one of the lowest cost outlet testers I could find. It doesnt have any fancy gadgets but it does what it is intended to do. I really dont think I will need another one since it seems sturdy enough. I am not an electrician so I cant comment on specs, but this is great for us DIY people.
