Ghost Controls 3-Button Remote Transmitter for Automatic Gate Openers, Model AXS1

> 3 dayI bought this spare remote with the sole purpose of dismantling it and hooking it up to a wireless smart switch relay. The range on the remote is fairly good. About a 100ft away from my gate, tucked away in the basement (so no clear line of sight), the signal is able to reliably open/close the gate. I dont know what the max distance is as I havent tested that. Search youtube for how to videos on hooking it up to a relay switch. Took me about 20 min, and Ive never soddered before. However, now this little remote is hooked into my alexa which allows me to control my Ghost Controls gate via Alexa and even automate things such as auto close/open on a schedule. No clue why Ghost Controls doesnt make it easier for folks to do this.

> 3 dayPurchased a couple weeks ago. Just now installed. Had I not had to remove all parts from previous gate control and some trips to a hardware, it would have taken about four hours. If you have installed this before probably a couple of hours. Instructions were very good with an exception or two. I may have missed it in the instructions but my unit would not work so I called for help. I had to push on the end of the control arm to connect with the mechanism inside. Then had to turn/screw the end a few times. Then it worked. No other major problems. A minor problem was that my average size fingers could not install the nuts within the gate attachment. The housing was too narrow. Solution (for those not mechanically inclined) was to place the nut with needle nose pliers, and turn in order to get it started. Pliers facing not from the side but straight in. Then used a socket wrench with an extension. But not a big deal. Another thing, If you have a long 3/8 bit you can use it, as think I recall the instructions were for a different size. The resulting hole was plenty tight. In fact, I wallowed the bit around to make it a tad larger and then bumped the bolt through. I say bumped because you do not want to hit the bolt hard and possibly strip the threads Cons None to speak of if you call for help if needed instead trying to figure things out for several days. Pros Appears to be a better made product than my similar previous opener. Previous one had a lot of free play. The motor would stop but the gate keep going for several inches, up to a foot. I have not seen any play with the Ghost unit, plus it slows to a stop when opening and closing. Instructions great. Customer service the best I have ever used. Agent waited til I walked to my gate and went step by step with me with clear instructions. And I did not have to wait forever with my call. I also got a real human, unless it was an android. But fine if it was. I am not prejudiced. Only one caution. I have only used this for a few days. It could turn into a pumpkin at midnight.
