This is the cutest thing ever. The top opens and closes just like a Keurig, with something inside providing just the right amount of resistance for a small child. There is a button on top to start the coffeemaker and a know on the side to adjust coffee strength. I sniffed it carefully when I pulled it out of the box and couldnt detect any kind of odor - and Im pretty sensitive to smells. The finish is very smooth, no splinters or rough spots that I could find. This appears to be very well made. So far the paint is withstanding play on our tile floor as well (of course, we just got this, so only time will tell). My 2 1/2 year old daughter must have brewed me 10 cups of coffee and tea in the first 10 minutes she had it. My only beef is that I wish it came with 2 mugs instead of 1, but of course my daughter just used her extra plastic play cups to brew extra coffee for the family. Im very happy with this toy and now I cant wait to get my daughter the matching toaster.

I love the idea, the look, the quality. My daughter’s favorite toys are her dolls, her tea set and now this coffee maker. There are two things they could improve on: 1. Add a second mug. They say it “encourages social development”. People typically don’t share the same cup of coffee when they socialize :D 2. I wish you could actually put in and take out the k-cup. It is only for looks, so children can’t actually pretend to do the whole process. Kids love putting things together then apart, so I think it would be even more enjoyable. Side note: some people have trouble engaging in activities with kids so young, like 2 or 3 years. This toy (and our wooden tea set) is a super simple and fun way to play with such little kids. It doesn’t require much energy or creativity, yet you spend precious quality time with your child. Overall I love it and very much recommend it.

I bought this toy because my son, who is 2, has recently been obsessed with making Mommy coffee in the morning. I have been letting him help in the kitchen and the coffee maker is one of his favorite things to help with. I always handle the water, but I let him open it, put the pod in, push the brew button. He likes to help so much, but obviously, the fun ends once the brew button is pushed because Im not going to help once hot liquids are involved. Thankfully, Hape, which is one of my favorite toy brands, had the perfect just like Mommy coffee maker. Now, the fun lasts all day and he can do it himself (I do it is one of our favorite phrases right now). He doesnt play much with the coffee pod but he opens/closes the top, pushes the button, makes his own brewing sounds and mixes in sugar and milk when he is done. It is pretty cute. He also like pretending to make grandma some tea, daddy some cocoa, etc. Overall, it has been great. It is a quality toy and will definitely hold up well to continuous use. The only things that I could see to make it better, would be if it came with additional pods. However, I could easily make some additional ones out of felt from a craft store and will probably do so when he shows more interest in that feature of the toy.

Originally I was planning on buying the Melissa and Doug version for Christmas but had waited too long and missed the deadline to receive in time so I went searching and found this one. It’s super cute and the prices were comparable. Very glad I was able to get this one. My two year old now “makes coffee” for everyone in the house about 100 times a day. This was exactly what I was looking for and would definitely recommend

I LOVE this buy another color for the coffee pot would be nice. I just find the green so jarring. I suppose some would find it fun and colorful though. However, this is my review, and I didnt like it ;) The set is the perfect collection of just enough but not too much. Coffee pot, mug, milk, sugar, spoon. Everything your child needs to make you a cup of coffee. I get a cup almost daily from at least two of my kids. I appreciate that its not a complicated set with lots of pieces to go missing. Its been easy to keep track of this. The product is high quality and allows the child to focus on their imagination rather than on the tricks the toy itself can do.

Purchased this as an addition to a play kitchen, we own many other Hape and Plan Toys wooden kitchen play sets and have enjoyed the quality and detail that goes into toys. The coffee maker comes with the blue cup as shown, sugar cup and cute wooden spoon, a solid wooden milk carton, and a small circular piece of felt that has the word coffee written on it and goes into the top as the coffee pod. The button on the top pushes down as if there is a small tight spring inside, but doesnt create an effect, it is just for show. The dial on the side of the maker is also for show and turns for the strength of the coffee. So cute that we wished that it came with an extra blue cup, called the manufacturer to see if we could purchase and additional cup and they didnt have any for sale. Kids are cool and you will see them use other cup like objects, such as the sugar cup that comes with it as a coffee cup.

My little niece LOVES this coffee pot! She had become interested in pressing the button when we were using the Keurig coffee maker and she was thrilled when she got her own so that she can make coffee in the morning too. Everything is tiny for itsy bitsy hands and the coffee maker comes with the bright blue mug, a cup of sugar and spoon, a little while carton of milk, and even a little cloth cartridge, just like we put into the real coffee maker. She is quickly becoming an imaginary caffeine addict (we need to look into buying a decaf cloth cartridge for the machine!) and everyone else in proximity, even Papa, who is staunchly against coffee, has had more than his share of our girlys specialty brew. This is absolutely brilliant in that that it stimulates the imagination and is a modern design for young kids who have never even been in a house with a drip-style coffee pot & want to do what mom and dad are doing. The other thing that is totally worth mentioning is that the toy is made with hard wood from a renewable source and all of the paints and dyes are completely non-toxic and water based. So pour me another cup, please!

I am a Keurig coffee drinker, and my 2 year old daughter always observed me doing the coffee. Now, she has learned all the steps, and she even prepares the coffee for me (with a little help). So I decided to buy her this wooden coffee set so she can have her own! The set is very well built, it feels sturdy and good quality. She has a lot of fun opening/closing the capsule compartment, pretending to get the coffee, and then adding sugar and milk. The set does not have any sounds or feedback, so it is full pretend play. The only think I did not really like is that the coffee capsule is just a flat circle, and does not have the real feel of a Keurig cup, but my daughter does not seem to mind it!

We purchased this little coffee maker for our grandson several months ago, adding to his ever-growing kitchen collection. He spends a good deal of time playing with his Hape Cook n Serve Kitchen and the addition of a coffee maker was at the top of his wish list. I noticed that whenever our dear grandson becomes less interested in playing kitchen that a purchase from his kitchen wish list will rekindle his interest in his entire collection. As with the other Hape toys we have purchased, the quality of this little coffee maker is excellent, and it is sure to last for many years to come. Owen especially likes that his coffee maker looks like the Keurig we have, and he enjoys opening and closing the yellow lid on top to make coffee. Downside: • It would have been nice if Hape would have included other coffees, teas, and coco felts so Owen would be able to make different kinds in his coffee pot like we do in the real one. • I wish it had come with 2 cups rather than just the one. Then we could have our coffee together Upside: • I love the little sugar spoon • Owen likes the cow picture on the milk carton (however now he says he needs a refrigerator because milk cannot sit on the counter all darn day • The Hape coffee maker was reasonable priced ($16.93) other similar priced coffee makers I found were plastic or of a lesser quality or unfinished wood ---------------- From an Educational or Developmental Perspective: Hape - Playfully Delicious - Coffee Maker Wooden Play Kitchen Set supports a childs creative development. In a world of brain science and cognitive development, Creative Development is often overlooked or considered less important -sometimes even optional. However, the majority cognitive researchers encourage parents to make sure their child is given ample opportunity for creative play each day. This is because creative play supports the development of skills such as: • problem solving • Innovation • flexibility in thinking Many experts consider development of these skills and other creative or out-of-the box thinking as a critical components for childs success in our ever-changing world. So the next time your child wants to play dress up and have a tea party, rest easy knowing this type of play can have lasting benefits. ----------------------- Sidenote: Want to know more about the skills children will need in order to succeed in a knowledge economy? This was for our two year old who loves it. The coffeemaker, mug, milk carton, sugar cup and spood, are made of wood, which we prefer over plastic. She has the Hape kitchen set and this is somewhat large for the kitchen counter but makes a great pretend play addition. There is no action with thjs toy. The top has a button to push to simulate either turning the coffeemaker on or filling the cup, depending how she feels. The coffee pod is a small piece of felt, this is a disappointing aspect since there really is nothing to do with this. The top of the coffeemaker is pulled open, to expose the small white coffee pod, and stays open until closed. The pod is removable, but not worth removing. This comes with one mug and unsure if you can order more separately. This is obvious from the picture and I was aware when purchasing, but would have preferred to pay another dollar or two for two mugs so we xould enjoy our coffee together.
