Hape Pop Up Toaster Wooden Play Kitchen Set with Accessories

> 24 hourWe ordered two Hape brand kitchen toys for Christmas 2018 to accessorize the play kitchen we got our children for Christmas. Both items arrived with really shoddy workmanship. This toaster had an incredible amount of glue, a thick film exposed at the base of the toaster where the wood rectangle meets the green toaster part. Our family purchases from brands like Hape, Haba, Plan Toys and such since safety in toys is a big concern for us. Not knowing what glue is used and if it is safe for little ones is a big turn off in a toy for us. The concept of the toy itself is well done. The bread slices, the butter that can be cut, and the bottle of honey are all nice additions. In our toaster one of the slats where the bread goes in is thinner than the other so we were able to fit the Plan Toys bread from their bread set in one but not the other. The Hape bread slices are a bit thinner and fit in both. The lever for the toaster when pushed down hard and fast enough tosses the bread in the air which can be good fun for little ones. 3 stars for those reasons. Not for us though, we will be returning and staying away from this brand in the future.

> 24 hourWhy is it so hard to find a good toddler toaster that doesnt make noise, shoot toast across the room or break at the drop of a hat? You wouldnt think it would be so complicated. This is a great little toaster that fits nicely into my daughters play kitchen. The little honey, bread, plate, knife and butter are an added bonus. You can turn the dial to set the toasting length (its not automated, so you have to use your imagination--hooray!) and then push on the lever to pop the toast up. My only complaint is that you cant get this in a more realistic color. My daughter prefers things that are true to life and I probably would have purchased this sooner had I been able to get over the fact that its bright green. A gray, white or black option would be nice for that more realistic feel. This has been a hit and was a great purchase. Hape really seems to know what theyre doing!

> 24 hourThis is the cutest toy kitchen accessory Ive ever seen. Really well made, weve been playing with it for over a month now and no paint issues unlike the Melissa and Doug stuff which we always seem to have immediate problems with. My 18 month old likes to put the toast in and push the lever, she cant quite master slicing the butter yet but she is great at rubbing the honey bottle all over the toast. Its a very cute set. She did knick up the wooden plate pretty badly by hitting it with another wooden condiment from another set. So there are some gouges out of the plate now, but, not a big deal, its just a soft wood I guess. (She is not big and not rough, I assure you) I highly recommend this set, you wont be disappointed.

> 24 hourThis is an awesome addition to any kitchen play area! Each pieces is painted nicely and smooth, wood colored pieces are also painted with a clear coat of stain unlike some other Hape products (Hape Chefs Choice). The honey bear really is the crowning touch of this item, such a cute accessory. Many have commented on the plate size being too small, it is true that the plate is smaller than the toast, but think about real life, who doesnt love a bakery item that is so large that it cant fit on the plate! Not a deal breaker at all!! Toaster has a feature where toast can pop out of toaster, if button is pushed down slightly it just pops slightly out of toaster. If pushed quickly and deliberately it will be launched out of the toaster.

> 24 hourThis is so adorable & perfect for boys or girls. We have several fake food toys, but thought the toaster would be a nice addition & it is. The butter cutting is the favorite. They take their butter knife & slice pats of butter. And, then they get to pretend to drizzle honey onto it. One minor gripe.....the toaster could be a little better. The button you push could have options. For example, push so much & it pop-ups like a regular toaster (it does do this), push a little more & actually pop-out (kids love this, but you really have to push just right), etc. However, not a reason I wouldnt buy this - I would buy this again for sure. And, not sure why the plate is so small in diameter compared to the toast. Youll see what I mean. The toast size is bigger than the diameter of the plate so it is impossible to put on the plate & falls off. Again, not a reason I wouldnt buy - you can use any plate & so far the children dont seem to mind. I was actually surprised @ how much time they spent w/ this. I would recommend right around 3 years old for this. That is when the pretend/imagination play is kicking in & they appreciate it more. Younger than that will play w/ it, but I dont think they will enjoy it as much unless they have olders siblings. Some might not care, but Im very picky on packaging. I dont like items that are open/cant tell if return/etc. I loved that this came in a nice box & when you open the box it is sealed inside & each item is also individually wrapped. It is impossible this is a return/etc - it is wrapped very well. Bonus points! Also, everything Ive read they utilize safe paint/etc & that is VERY important so Im very happy about that. Highly recommend for age 3.

> 24 hourThis was a big hit in our house last night. My daughter likes to be with me in the kitchen while I cook, and she enjoys toys that let her imitate me. She loves her toy kitchen and runs to get her pots and pans. I saw this online, and I thought it would make a great addition. She played with it for hours, making everyone toast with butter and honey. It is very sturdy too, and I know this will last a long time. My only gripe is the toaster function. I was hoping it would pop up on its own, instead of having to push down on the little lever. It doesnt. Its not a huge drawback since my daughter enjoys making the toast pop up by hitting the lever, but I wish I had looked at the reviews more closely before purchasing so as not to be disappointed.

> 24 hourThis is a really cute little toaster set. Its good quality & made of nicely finished wood. My child loves using every part of it. The things that arent perfect about it are: You put the toast in & only push the lever down to make the toast pop up... the opposite of how a real toaster works. That doesnt make much sense. Also, the knob on the side to adjust the setting of the toaster just spins.. it doesnt click or anything to simulate that its actually a setting being changed. The last thing is the toast doesnt fit on the plate. It slides right off. But other than those things, its brilliant! The toast is painted nicely to look like its been toasted. The butter slices really well. The knife is blunt and greatly designed.

> 24 hourMy kids are obsessed with toast. Toast for breakfast. Toast for snack. Toast for dinner. I don’t get it. My four year old asked for a pretend toaster for Christmas. I thought “that’s ridiculous there is no such thing.” Well. I should’ve know there were like 14 choices on Amazon. I mean how could I have thought Amazon wouldn’t have been able to anticipate this child’s Christmas wish?? Now they’re also obsessed with making pretend toast. They make it 40 times a day and love the fake butter and honey. They chew on the fake toast. It hasn’t chipped at all. 10/10 would recommend to anyone else with weird kids!

> 24 hourI bought this for my nephew who is actually about 16 months old. His parents had already bought him the Kitchen play-set also by Hape and the Gourmet Kitchen set that he already loves. I thought this would be a good addition to his new kitchen. Even though the product is for 3 years and older, my nephew who has an absolute love of eating and playing in the kitchen, is able to play with this set well. He pretends to make toast, and walks around pretending to feed people the toast. The pieces are well made and solid, all made out of wood and provides a long time of fun. My only wish is that the toaster push lever could have a bit more of a spring and acted like a real toaster, and the action of pushing the lever is enough fun for the child. Its too bad that the toast also just slides right off the plate - might be better if it stayed more in place so they could serve you better, but small little complaints. All in all, a great addition for your food-loving toddler.
