Greater than one weekI was skeptical that a solder could be strong enough to hold up to 300+psi of r410a, but heard good things so I gave it a try. Ive used it on several residential AC installs and it has been flawless, less leaks than brazing and wayyyy faster than brazing. You have to use Emory cloth and/or wire brush to clean the fitting very well and use less flux than you normally would with plumbing solder, just make sure to use flux on the male fitting at least. It has been a complete game changer. Instead of hauling around a heavy ass welding rig, I can just carry a 5 pound map gas torch and get it all done fast! I will be sticking with this if all proves leak free in the long term.

> 3 dayI used this to solder a leaky line dryer connection on a HVAC line set. The nice thing about this stuff is it works on copper and steel and does not require a lot of heat to work. It also has a very high tensile strength. This stuff works with a regular propane torch (not MAPP, or turbo, just regular old propane) and requires a lot less heat. The only downside is you have to clean and flux the copper or steel and it takes a bit longer to heat up than oxy acetylene, but 5 minutes of sanding is better than having to purge your line or open the system up. This stuff flows really well with about 30 secs of heat from a propane torch. Its also very strong. Its not cheap, but neither is brazing rod. Unlike braze, this can solder steel too.

Greater than one weekI tested this product by connecting two six inch length of 3/4 copper pipe. Fluxed and soldered them in seconds. I then cut the connected pieces lengthwise to inspect the joint and look for oxidation. No oxidation occurred and the solder join was completely and uniformly filled. Ive used this product on several a/c connections with excellent results.

> 3 dayHaving never done hvac line sets before I thought I’d give it a go… this was so easy and saved me so much money compared to having a hvac tech come braze lines… it’s been 5 months since I used the silver soldier on my line sets and it’s holding strong.
