Greater than one weekI had this sitting for about 2 years and decided to install them at my church. The system comes with 60ft of cable which was too short. I had to buy 4 100ft additional cables for each cam. I ran my cams outside on top of a flat roof but, I ran the wires through 1inch PVC tubing, Generally when running wires longer than 100ft you would need a inline signal booster. That was not the case with these cams. What I found out you do need a monitor with HD 1080 or better. Anything less will make the picture look blurry. With those negative comments, it’s not the cams or the wires, it’s the user who is not experienced.

> 3 dayI purchased a Night Owl HD system from Costco and purchased additional cameras and cables from Amazon to fill out the 8 camera system. The Night Owl supplied cables and these Hisvision aftermarket cables were utilized on long runs through the attic. A huge undertaking in a hot attic. Not fun but it had to be done. After installing the system the video quality was very poor on some of the cameras. One of the cameras was intermittently black and white and three others had vertical lines of distortion moving across the images. I swapped out cameras, purchased different cameras and even replaced the DVR only to find out it was the cheap Hisvision cables. I swapped them out with Night Owl brand cables one at a time and each distorted image was corrected. These Hisvision cables have the power and the line signal in a single insulated round cable. The Night Owl have TWO side by side cables with one supplying the power and the other the line signal. Clearly the interference is a result of the design of these cables. Save yourself some time and aggravation and get the higher quality Night Owl cables if you have a Night Owl system. I cant comment of other camera systems but I spent several days diagnosing and then running the cables (again) in the cramped, hot attic. Hopefully this review saves someone the hassle I went through.
