Hitachi 6696572 Recoil Starter Body Assembly

PLEASE READ after looking at other reviews. There has been a lot of negative comments about this pulley assembly not fitting the Hitachi leaf blower (model RB 24EAP). The problem is there are 2 different pulley assemblies available. Check out the parts list found here: [...] (if for some reason the link doesnt show up properly, just Google Model RB 24EAP engine tool parts list and choose the first hit) The pictures in the parts list (see attached) are actually pretty good to help in determining which pulley assembly your blower will have (why there are 2 is a mystery - but PLEASE look at this doc first) I made the mistake of looking at this doc, but only seeing the pulley pictured on top and ordering. Once I received it, I had the same frustration as Travis and others did. But then after looking into it more, I realized there are the 2 options. Dont blame Kansas Golf and Turf - theyre just shipping what you ordered. I gave this 3 stars - mostly because of the confusion that Hitachi brings for having 2 different assemblies. Im sure once you get the right part - itll work as expected.

Does not work on the advertised blower and they want you to pay shipping to send it back.

This item looks like an exact match and bolts on. Unfortunately the inner parts are different then the original so it won’t work. I requested a refund and received no response.

Mine had the wrong coupling for my blower. Caution, one bad move and the spring will unravel and youre done. Thats why I didnt return it... Not as easy a swap as I hoped, and Im an experienced mechanic.

How to determine if it is the right part ... From Hitachi Customer Service: When looking at the serial # on the tool the first digit indicates the month and the 2nd # indicates the year. If the 1st letter is an O N or D this indicates it is October November or December. If there is any other letter present it represents the factory where the tool was manufactured and should be ignored. I have attached the tool serial # format as well as the parts breakdown. If you look on the parts break down at # 60, 79 or 81. Item 60 includes 61-66 and they are for tools manufactured up till July 2014 60 6696572 RECOIL STARTER BODY ASSY INCLUD.61-66 TILL 7.2014 Item 79 includes 80 and 81 which also include 82-88 and are for tools manufactured since Aug 2014 79 6600408 RECOIL STARTER ASSY 1 INCLUD.80.81 80 6600407 STARTER PULLEY 1 SINCE 8.2014 81 6600406 RECOIL ASSY 1 INCLUD.82-88 SINCE 8.2014

This was not the part I needed but by combining it with Hitachi 6696471 I was able to fix the blower.

The 2 star is for the product description. The product appeared to be fine and sturdy, but says it will fit my blower, but never caught the starter.

It did not fit. No one would help to send it back. Including Amazon!

This item did not work and it was too hard to return. Never received the code from amazon to return.

--- This part DOES NOT FIT ALL RB24EAPs!!!!! ---- Please Check the bottom side of your old Pull Start before ordering. The Pic attached is of the INCOMPATIBLE shaft. I spent over 3 hours of my time on the phone with taking the part on / on and on the phone Hitachi Corporate to find out there was a design change for the RB24EAP and this is NOT the correct part number. I also spent 15 mins trying to talk to Kendra at Kansas Golf (me, explaining the whole hitachi story politely) DID NOT THINK WAVING THE POSTAGE FEE was warranted in this situation. because we have sold 30 or so with only a few returns... She did inform me that hidden somewhere in the more info button in the alternate seller list that another part is required to use this on some RB24EAPs I dont believe pulling the shaft apart to affix another retro-fit part to be a n OEM solution. Hitachi Corporate agreed to fix my blower for me since the part is on national back-order / Not available. It is unfortunate that Kansas City Golf felt this was the correct way to handle this event. While this part may work for Tanaka blowers out of the box. REPEAT!! IT DOES NOT WORK ON ALL RB24EAPs!! Hopefully my review will save other peoples valuable time.....
